How does my fitbit HR auto-recognize "outdoor bike" ? I was talking to a non-fitbit using who said I need to have GPS to register biking on my fitbit.
I said that's not true - since my FITBIT HR been correctly logging my "outdoor bike" rides. AND has been relativley close on the distance, too.
How does it do this?
Do I need to have my iphone with the fitbit app in order to make the distance work?

Welcome to the Community @windy22! Thanks for the details you've mentioned. Exercises you initiate from Exercise mode on your tracker, or activities that are recognized by SmartTrack, will not include distance or pace information in your exercise history.
In case, you have a Fitbit Charge or Fitbit Charge HR and want to track a specific step-based activity with precise stats, you should use Exercise mode on your tracker and then categorize the activity as a run, walk, or hike to see distance and pace information.
To see if your tracker has exercise mode, you can filter by features at http://www.fitbit.com/store.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

I just bought an fitbit4 and I'm still in the process to discover possibilities.
How can I register my outdoor biking (not mountainbike) but e.bike?
Hopefully some one knows the answer

Thanks Sylvia, Yes my fitbit has Exercis mode and I'm using this already for walking - working just GREAT!
But I'm searching for the specific outdoor bycicle excersise - living in Europe were you have lots of possibilities.
SO?
