Hi there @lilleisen, welcome to the Community Forums.
All Fitbit trackers and smartwatches reset their data at midnight. However, note that when you wake up is probable that your tracker shows some steps and calories burned.
In regards to the calories burned, the value that you see on your tracker when you wake up in the morning is your estimated calorie burn for the day so far. You still burn calories even if you have been sedentary or were sleeping. We estimate your calorie burn based on your age, gender, height and weight.
About the steps, sometimes I get steps when waking up but is due to Fitbit trackers may register movements or restlessness as steps when you're wearing it while you sleep. The number of steps typically measured during these periods is minimal, and should not offset your overall fitness progress. Any steps taken to and from other rooms during the night will also be tracked.
To get more details information about the information provided above, please see: How accurate are Fitbit devices? and How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
On the other hand, if you are not receiving sleep stages, I recommend considering the following:
I hope this clarifies your inquiry, let me know if you have any questions present.

Hello there @detailsbynan, thanks for getting back.
It's not necessary to set a bedtime if you don't want to. Set a bedtime reminder in the Fitbit app helps you to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, though. Find more details in: How do I set a bedtime reminder in the Fitbit app?
