How to shutdown Charge 3 when not in use?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I bought a Fitbit Charge 3 as a backup for my Ionic (every 9 months or so the Ionic fails, apparently the battery stops working, so I have to send it for replacement under warranty and that takes about 2 weeks, and I can't stay without a Fitbit for 2 weeks).

Now that I got my replacement Ionic from Fitbit, I want to shutdown the Charge 3 to protect its battery while I'm using the Ionic. How can I do that?

Although some fitbit models have a shutdown option, the Charge 3 isn't one of them.

What I do with my spare fitbit is to charge it when I charge my main fitbit. A bit of a hassle but probably better for the battery.

Actually, although Fitbit claims the Charge 3 can't be shutdown, I was able to shut it down using the instructions from a YouTube video:

- start charging it;

- press and hold the side button through the hole in the charger, make sure you don't release it;

- after about 8 seconds a progress indicator will show;

- after about 6 seconds, once it reaches 100%, you can release the button;

- remove Fitbit from the charger, the progress indicator will disappear, and the Charge is off now.

If instead it shows a smiley face at the end of the process, then the procedure failed, and you need to try again.

Not sure why this procedure is not documented by Fitbit and they claim it can't be turned off.

This is a quick video to show you the procedure used to completely power down your Fitbit Charge 3. This is useful if you plan to store your device for an extended period of time, or maybe you have two devices and want to prevent your Charge 3 from counting steps whilst being transported in your ...

I've moved your charge 3 question out of the Charge forum. The Charge hasn't been sold for 3-4 years.

In that case you should move my question back, because that is incorrect, the Charge 3 is still being sold today. I bought one just 6 months ago, and I can still buy one today. It even shows on your site as "In stock".

Later edit: Nevermind, I misunderstood what you did, I assumed you moved it to some kind of archive.

I moved it out of the Charge forum and into the Charge 3 forum.

The Charge doesn't have heart rate.

I can't get this to work. I'm not moving or anything. It start with the little bar across the middle then goes to the smiley face.
