You also would want to do one last sync before removing the tracker from the account.

The problem is that the Fitbit app doesn't actually sync to only the nearest device it at the time, it syncs to ALL devices that are within range. This can burn up a lot of phone battery even if All Day Sync is set to OFF.
That is really the smaller part of the problem though. When the app syncs to a device that's isnt being used, it sets all the status screens to the current info from just that device, even I feel that device isn't reporting data or has its sensor turned off. So if you wanted to read the info abput your current heart rate it might be blank, etc.
Being able to shut the device off would help a lot.
It doesnt help that the heart rate sensor in the Charge 2 doesn't do a good job sensing when the device isn't being worn and properly shut itself off in AUTO mode. Besides using up battery and throwing the app and data off, the flashing green lights are pretty bright at night, and drive the pets nuts. (Yes we turned the sensor off manually, but that shouldn't be required).
In the end, being able to completely power off a device should have been a required option to begin with. You can always choose not to use it, but there wasn't no reason to never have it at all.
Personally I would have preferred that the devices stay OFF when plugged into the charger instead of being locked on and reducing the overall battery lifespan.
It's just a thought.
Thanks

Stupid Fitbit Forum & iPhone Auto-Correct.
For some weird reason it defaults to negative contractions ("was" becomes "wasn't", etc) and "it's" likes to become "its".
The site's typing response delay doesn't make it better, so things like "if" become "I Feel"
Go figure.

@HeydyF and @MarreFitbit
LOL I just noticed that my Charge 2 has logged 1200 steps since midnight last night, even though it's been sitting unmoved on a table for the last few days.
What setting or app fixes that?
(note: Heart Rate, Bluetooth Classic, and All Day Sync are all set to OFF)
i wouldn't really prefer that this totally imaginary step count not be added to my history each time I open up the app within 30 feet of the device.
Then again, I would still like q way to truly factory reset some of these Fitbit devices to clear the entire history before giving Ann old one to friends or family, but I don't think see that happening either.
My Charge 2 seems to have also climbed a few floors today too. Another amazing step forward in the technology of AI.
Thanks for your help everybody.

It is rather silly as I'm not allowed to take it offshore as it needs to be off to fly on a helicopter.

Hey @Guran, welcome to the Fitbit forums! I know, there are some situations in which the Fitbit devices need to be turn off, however, not all of them have this option. The Charge 2 doesn't, so I'm afraid that the only way it will turn off will be when the battery drains out completely.
Let me know if you have further questions or comments!

Yeah this is just plain dumb that the Fitbit devices like the charge2 or charge 3 can't be shutdown. Maybe Fitbit needs to implement this feature to shutdown devices.
Here is my use case. My wife has a charge 2. We ended up getting a charge 3 and set up on my wife's account. However since her sister likes the charge 3, we would like to give it her. We will meet her only in two months time from today. Now that the device has been turned on and syncs to her account, it will sit idle but turned on for the next couple of months. Since it is going sit in a drawer, we are going to forget about it till her sister arrives, and run out of battery eventually.

The batteries also do not like to be left fully Charged, and should be kept between 30 and 80%
I found that shutting down the Versa, Ionic, Blaze, and Surge did not keep the batteries from discharging. They where all dead within 2 weeks.

Hey guys! I hope you are doin' fine!
The Charge 2 can't be turn off. Only when the battery drains completely, this tracker shuts off and it can only turn on when you charge it's battery. As @Rich_Laue said, only the Surge, Blaze, Versa and Ionic can be shutting down.
Let me know if you have further questions or comments!

@BobM2, it is designed to be worn 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so there is no reason to design it to be turned off. Not too stupid.

Unless you have 1 as a spare and you want it to keep its charge. So, not so stupid after all.
Its a bit like your old mobile phone, not worth selling but always good to keep as a spare.

Hey @Daewar, I hope you are doin' fine! Yes, the Charge 2 was designed to being worn 24/7, 'cause it also tracks your sleep, so an option to turn it off wasn't implemented. However, there are other Fitbit devices that have this option.
@Tinysuz, thanks for sharing your experience with the Charge 2.

Hey @San.change, welcome aboard! So your Charge 2 seems to be always tracking extra steps even when you are not walking, right? So that is why you want to turn it off. Well, as I mentioned, this can't be done, but keep in mind that your Charge 2 recognizes some of the movements of your arms as steps, so you'll always see a little amount of extra steps. Now, if you see that it keeps tracking a lot of steps, please restart it. So this can be fixed.
Let me know how it goes!
