My fitbit isn't recording lengths of a 25m pool accurately, it recorded 76 lengths when I did 100 so quite a big discrepancy, any ideas why?

Hi @TaskM Usually under recording of swim laps is usually due to the user not giving the watch clear enough signs that a lap has been finished. Make sure the arm the watch is worn on STOPS moving for a second or two. I use either a stop and push off turn, or a tumble turn and get nearly perfect lap count. When I push off from the wall I kick my feet, but dont move my arms for a short time.
Let me know how you go.

I’m swimming 20 x 50 meters and it tells me I’ve swim 2000 meters. I’ve tried pushing off, stopping momentarily but doesn’t seem to make a difference. It’s disappointing as I wanted to give up having to count laps. Sigh

I have bought a Charge 3 especially because it was supposed to track swimming. When it didn't seem to be working I read endless posts and suggestions and checked my lap length is correct, tried manual as well as auto detect, even did a couple of swims deliberately keeping my left arm still at each tumble turn. After two weeks I almost returned it (intending to buy a different brand altogether) because the only data that is usually correct is the length of time of my swim.
However, I actually like many of the features of Fitbit and do not want to change brand and app, so please could the tech guys
1) Allow edit on exercise data in the app (both PC and phone) so that at least the recorded swim times don't need to be re-entered even if everything else needs fixing.
2) Fix the auto-calculation of calories burned when swimming is entered manually (or edited once the first request above has been enabled). (Fitbit has my weight, gender, distance, time taken - this should be enough information to give a more accurate result for calories burned).
3) Address the inaccurate lap counting - a swimmer should not need to change how they swim (e.g. deliberately not moving one arm at every lap change so that the device detects the end of each lap) especially as many competing brands of fitness devices seem to have sorted this out.
Finally, could Fitbit please reconsider how they are advertising and promoting the Charge 3, as including a swimming tracker, until the above issues have been fixed as it could be considered false advertising.

Exactly happened to me today. Used it first time to track swimming. Charge 4.

I've got the exact opposite, pool length set to 50 m did 24 laps and Fitbit shows 2300 m and 46 lengths. Time is pretty close.
Easy enough to change the distance but the laps still show 46 lengths.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Cheers

I swam open air 1km in an event, and it tracked almost 3km! That’s pretty awful accuracy

Hello,
I hope you’re fit and well. I’ve noticed that if I constantly swim and don’t stop between lengths the accuracy improves but if I stop to catch my breath or if I tread water or even just move my arm it becomes wildly inaccurate. It’s very annoying, enjoy the rest of your day
