I returned my Fitbit charge 2 because of a host of problems mainly tracking & heart rate issues. I'm using my old Charge until I decided what I was going to buy next. I've had 5 fitbits to date. I tried Garmin viosmart 3 & hated it. Dashboard is awful and you have to manually sync it and if you are a walker it doesn't credit those steps to active minutes even if it is a power walk. I really want to stick with Fitbit and even with all the problems with Charge 2 or Charge 3. I guess my question is seeing there is now a charge 3, will charge 2 be discontinued? Will they still be trying to work on the problems with Charge 2 to get it running right again or just keep ignoring the issues with it? I guess I'm just a die hard Fitbit fan who doesn't know any better.

Yes, the Charge 2 has been discontinued and removed from the Fitbit store. Having said that I would not recommend buying a Charge 2, assuming that you can find one. There are still Charge 2 trackers that are still under warranty and Fitbit will honor those warranties for those customers.
Take a look in the store. There are a lot of options now.

I know that you get get Charge 2 on Amazon & Walmart with the extended warranty, If it breaks down say around 2 years into the extended warranty, will there still be Charge 2's to replace it if they are discontinued? Or just store credit? So it might make more sense to upgrade to Charge 3

Once the existing stock of discontinued trackers is gone, there will be none to replace under any warranty. Fitbit does keep some refurbished ones in stock for warranty claims, but once all warranties are over i doubt there will be any left.
Take the leap and go for the Charge 3, Versa, new Versa Lite or new Inspire HR.

@SunsetRunner note that the Alta and Alta HR have also been replaced by the Inspire and Inspire HR so you may want to look at that instead.

Is this why I can no longer sync this tracker?? It was syncing fine *literally* last week and now, I can't even add it to my phone through the app. And now that the windows app is discontinued, there's no way to update firmware. Wtf?? This tracker was the last of the durable generation with METAL instead of cheap plastic attachments.

SAME HERE! I’ve been having issues since DST and my charge 2 will not sync to the correct time. I spent 4 hours across 3 different chat techs and still no resolution. I even asked if it’s because it’s a charge 2/coming up as out of date 😞
