The Fitbit app is compatible with most popular phones and tablets. To set up and use your Fitbit products and services, you must install the Fitbit app on a compatible device running one of the following operating systems:

  • Apple iOS 14 and higher
  • Android 8 or higher
  • See additional tips for Android phones and tablets.

Hope that helps.

I don't see why it won't be compatible. It's a fairly new model. If nothing else have him install the Fitbit app before he buys the tracker and make sure it installed correctly.

The list of devices is in fact found here:

https://static2.fitbit.com/devices

I don’t know why moderators keep pointing us to the other link, which doesn’t tell you very much at all.

However, I have had 100% success with devices before that were not on the list of compatible devices at the time, so you can pretty much discount that list. I don’t think I can see the phone you said on the list, but I would say in all likelihood it’s going to work just fine.  It’s probably a lot later model than my Galaxy S5 which worked absolutely fine, and whatever very basic Samsung I had before that, I think A5 it was.

Probably also later model than my iPhone SE (original 2016 model) which until recently worked fine on iOS 12 or 13 or whatever I had, and now works fine on latest iOS.  I just know it wasn’t 14 or higher, because I didn’t have storage space to update the iOS for a couple of years. Until I worked out you put it in recovery mode and update through iTunes, doesn’t remove data, updates to latest iOS, and frees up around 4-6gb of storage. Yay!

Anyway what I’m trying to say is that those requirements and list of compatible devices is most likely still incomplete. If I was your friend I would risk it.
