I've taken 2 water exercise classes in a local pool. It's for seniors. No diving, no jumping, just gentle movements. In both cases, my Charge 3 seemed dead after leaving the pool, no display, I tried to recharge it, it wouldn't accept any attempt at getting it going again.
After sitting overnight on the kitchen counter, it started working again. My guess is water got into it and stopped it from working. Is this the best I can expect from the Charge 3? If it's leaking water from gentle movements, I wouldn't call it "water resistant." Is there a method to dry out the device quickly? Or should I return it for a refund?
Thanks!

Hi @SunsetRunner No, that is not expected behaviour. I swim in mine with no problems. I will flag your post for a moderators assistance.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I have been hopeful that the Charge 3 will perform as advertised. I am using water therapy more now, as I am recovering from a serious knee surgery. Thanks again! I'll wait patiently for additional responses!

charge 3 is about as water proof than a boat with holes in it

I have my Charge 4 for almost a whole day. I check to make sure this model is “water resistant” and stand in a pool. At no point was I thrashing around and my hair never even got wet. I wasn’t in very long at all. The screen is blank and it appears to be dead. I left this out on the counter and it still doesn’t seem to be working. After assuming that water is in the device as it stopped when exposed to water, I pressed down on the display screen and a bead of water came out of one of the corners along the edge of the display. I am heartbroken! It was one glorious day of collecting data and logging water and food. So sad. Would love suggestions to get the water out and hope it will turn on again.

@JPTXPA (tagging because this forum does not make it clear who you are replying to - really weird design!)
Are you sure that drying out is what you want? You purchased a water-resistant device, so if yours is not water-resistant then it is defective, and as such I would expect a replacement. Even if you don't intend to expose it to water again, it has had water inside it so there is potentially corrosion damage in there, so why accept that and the accompanying risk of reduced lifespan for the device?
If you really would rather dry it and take your chances then put it in a sealed jar or bag filled with a dessicant to draw the moisture out and leave it for a couple of days. Silica gel is ideal, but if you don't have that (and few do) uncooked rice or raw cous cous will do the job (this is common advice to people who dunk non water-resistant phones). But I would just contact Fitbit or the vendor who sold it to you (which may depend on your local consumer laws) and get it replaced as it was defective when sold.

Thanks for the advice. I’m so disappointed. I will sadly return my Charge 4. Take care and thank you for your thoughts.
