Is my Fitbit calculating calories accurately?

I went on a jog, 6.1 miles and around 13 minutes per mile. I'm female, 5'8, and 154 pounds. My average heart rate was 170. My Fitbit charge 4 calculated that I burned 1123 calories. Is that accurate?!?! It seems like a really high number.

@Esthergamzu  I agree with you that this is a really high number.  Fitbit uses a heart rate based algorithm to estimate calorie burn.  This calculator from RUNNERSPACE is one (of many) sites that estimate calorie burn using a huge reference database.  Fitbit uses a database like this on its older model trackers that can't measure heart rate.  I get a much lower number when I enter your available information.

I think your Charge 4 is measuring your heart rate too high.  Try changing the position on your wrist.  Make sure it isn't too loose or too tight and that it isn't too wet with sweat under the sensor.  A 13 minute mile is a slow jog/very brisk walk pace.  An average heart rate of 170 is very high for this.

Welcome to the forums @Esthergamzu.

Thanks for providing the details regarding your calories.

Make sure that all the information in your account settings is correct.

If you do feel that the amount of calories burned is too high based on your personal setting, please try to restart your watch following these steps, and check if you continue to experience the situation.
