One side of my tracker release latch is stuck, i push down the flat metal button on the strap, which i am able to do, however the band won't slide up to release it from the tracker. What is there for me to do? Isn't this a mechanical problem? Help!!

@4Myhealth Sorry for the late reply. Have you contacted the vendor to see what they can suggest? If nothing else then force the wristband and request a replacement base on the defective design the latch has. It is up to you and I know there are really great third party options out there for wristbands but when they don't work the vendor should try to correct this.

Keep me posted on this issue after you contact the vendor.

If you hold down the button and then lightly twist the band, it should release the band from the tracker and allow it to slide off.

@4Myhealth Thanks for stopping by! This is odd, I haven't experienced this with my tracker. Could you share a picture of the issue? You could use a screwdriver to apply more pressure to the tracker just be careful with the tracker itself (you can use some cloth to place the tracker to avoid scratches). I want to be clear that I only mean that you can use the screwdriver to apply some additional force to the tracker than what you can with your fingers I don't mean that you ram the poor tracker with it. Robot wink Also is this the original wristband that came with the tracker or a third party one (I do have heard similar issues with third party ones but no with the original but it is always a possibility)?

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks, it's a third party band, purchased from Amazon. I did use some small tools to depress the flat metal plate, able to press down but the band won't slide up/out.

I tryed same thing and it won't release. Very frustrating!

@Rockinrandi I hope you're doing well! Is this also a third party band? Have you tried the suggestions in this thread? If it doesn't come off then you might need to force and ask for assistance with the vendor. Could you share some pictures too?

Twisting the band while holding down the latch worked for me. I have had my Charge2 for 2 month. I tried yesterday to get the band off but it wouldn't budge. After reading this reply about twisting the band while pressing on the tab, I was able to remove the band and replace it with a different one. Thank you.

I too have bands purchased from a third party on Amazon. I am having the same problem. My son was able to fight with it and get the band off. Then I took it to work and hot my coworker to do it. I can't figure out why it gets stuck. It's frustrating and not worth the aggravation.

@JoJoFly @Sherriet Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

@JoJoFly happy to hear that you could remove the band with the instructions in this thread, this is the reason the Community exist!

@Sherriet it would be a good idea that you provide the seller with your feedback so they can improve the design. Remember that there are good third party options out there you just need to check the reviews.

I'll be around!

So I ended up trying the screwdriver method and that’s been working like a
charm! I use a screwdriver to press the middle of the latch and wiggle the
Fitbit out. Be sure it’s in the center.

I have an original band that come on my tracker ans it want come off .. should i depress somthing or just pull it off

Depress the silver strip on the underside and wiggle the band off. If it sticks try depressing the silver strip with a screwdriver.

The screwdriver trick worked.!! It just helps to get more even pressure without hurting my hands. I wrapped a towel around the tracker just in case. Way easier than trying to rip them off myself. I use 3rd party bands as well. Thank you.!!

@Jimmiesmom05 @Carlyn2000 It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community! Sorry for the delay in my response to some of you.

@Sherriet @Carlyn2000 really happy to hear that the screwdriver tip helped you and thank you for posting the results here as this may help other members with the same issue.

@4Myhealth sadly the only thing I can think of is contacting the seller to see if they have any tips to share to resolve this issue.

@Jimmiesmom05 to remove the original Fitbit branded wristband please do the following:

  • Turn over your Charge 2 and locate the two band latches—there’s one on each end where the band meets the frame.
  • To release a latch, press down on the flat metal button on the strap.

  • Slide the band up to release it from the tracker.

  • Remove the band on the other side. If you’re having trouble or if it feels stuck, gently move the band back and forth to release it.
  • To attach a band, just slide it down on the end of the tracker until you feel it snap into place, then repeat on the other side.
