I didn't realize until about 3 minutes ago that when I scroll over to settings on my watch, there is a new 'Brightness' setting!  I have never seen that before, so it may have changed with the latest update?  You can even set it to auto now.  I couldn't figure out why mine was so dim for the longest time, and found this!  Hope it helps someone!
