Local weather not being displayed on Charge 3

I’ve set the Weather App for: (1) Local, (2) Chicago, and (3) Las Vegas. After I sync, and I go to check the weather on my Charger 3, it only displays weather for Chicago and Las Vegas. The local weather is not being dispalyed. I’ve cheched “Location Services” on my iPhone and it’s turned ‘On’.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

@nsotoj Since you previously mentioned that you have location services let's try one more thing. Delete the other city and leave only local installed.

Also, you meant location services in the Fitbit app, correct? Not just on your phone's settings.

Got it! For some reason, changes done on the Fitbit app on my iPhone were not being sync with the Charger 3. I resetted the Charger and still, no luck. I then tried General>Reset>Reset Location & Privacy on my iPhone, and then everything started working. So, it's fixed and I can start seeing the Weather on my 'Location'.

Thanks all for your help. The experience helped me to learn a few things about my Fitbit.

What happens if you remove Las Vegas and sync?

Still no ‘Local’ Weather and at the last spot I get the Message: “To set up another location...your phone”. Interestingly enough, on the top there are only two dots, as if only two different cities could be displayed.

This is what I see also.  I work in a different town from my home.  So I have my home town and another town.  But I don't see the "local" weather (where I am at work).

I've already synced my Fitbit to the app several times today and it still says the last time temperature was taken was 6 hours ago.

My Versa doesn't have any weather issues, so I believe it's related to the Charge 3.

This is what mine looks like.  Moore is not my current location.  And like I said before, I've been syncing to the app multiple times today and this is what it's sitting at.

So I just went to the Fitbit app and opened up the Weather app inside Fitbit. And now it’s working.

But I feel like you shouldn't need to open up the weather app inside Fitbit to receive accurate weather.

I have iOS 13.3 on an iPhone 11 and the suggested fix does not work. I still don't have location weather showing on my Charge 3. No other fixes proposed work even though I followed the instructions. I used to own an Android phone and never had an issue with displaying weather at my current location.

I think the real problem relates to the Fitbit app and how it works in iOS 13.3. The app itself does not appear under Location Services as is the case with many other apps. Because of this you can't adjust location settings. The app initially asks if you want to set location services to 'on' but the only only option available is while using app. Even this doesn't make the local weather show up.

However, I discovered you can 'force' the app to appear under Location Services. Try this:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and make sure your Fitbit has synced.
  2. Choose an exercise on your Fitbit (I chose walk) and activate it.
  3. Your Fitbit app should display a message to allow location access. Always Allow should now appear as an option. Select it.
  4. Now go to Privacy>Location Services and you should now see Fitbit in the list. Select it and double check to see that 'Always' is set.
  5. Stop your 'fake' exercise on your Fitbit.
  6. Check your weather on your Fitbit, and local weather should now be displayed.

I'm going to start off by saying, I make no guarantees that this will work for everyone. As stated, the main criteria is that on initial setup, the Fitbit app does not appear under Location Services, so you can't set any options. Following the steps above appears to force the app to appear and only then you can adjust location options. Clearly this is a bug that the needs to be looked at and rectified.

I hope this fix does work for everyone and if it does, I hope the mods make a note of it. Because all the other suggestions fail to take into account the main criteria. If the Fitbit app isn't shown in the list of apps under Location Services, it's a good bet it's not working properly at all for any activity that requires the Fitbit to know where you are are, including exercises, running, walking etc, not just local weather.
