Longevity of Device

I'm on my second version of the HR.  The first device had a defect on the screen that lead to a chunk falling out, allowing moisture to get in.  It was replaced by the next version since it was under warranty.  Last November, it wouldn't track my heart rate accurately.  I noticed a huge discrepancy between what the treadmill said and what my fitbit said.  Fitbit was reading 20-30 beats lower than the treadmill.  I started tracking my heartrate the old fashioned way with fingers to the neck and indeed, my fitbit was way off and the treadmill was within 2-3 beats off.  I contacted Fitbit, went thru all the fixes, and nothing worked.  I thought, well, I'll just get my info from the treadmill to make sure I'm staying on target with my desired HR.  Well, now, its not tracking my workouts and the tracking is way off.  For example, yesterday I did 2 miles on the treadmill and my steps on fitbit registered the same amont, 7828 before I got on the treadmill and was the same amount when I got home, after all the walking I did around the gym, the time walking on the treadmill, and the steps at the grocery store afterward.  My app is up to date,  I have tried resetting it several times every night when I get home, I reset it again this morning.  When I spoke to fitbit last November, there was not offer to repair or replace even though it was less than a year old.  I'm looking at buying a new device but before I make a decision on what to go with, I want to know....Do fitbits not have good longevity?  Do they last a year, year and a half, six months or whatever...and thats it, time to get a new device?  This has been a real hassle and one I prefer to eliminate.

Hey @Shannonsfolly,

May I please ask when you mention 'HR' do you mean Charge HR or Charge 2? They are 2 different Fitbits. I am not sure but Fitbit may not offer replacement on Charge HR because they do not make them any more.

Charge 2; Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro

HR2 is the second version of HR.

My Charge 2 just died as well. There's no display. It's only 2 years old. Support couldn't help and only offered a small discount on a new Fitbit. I hate to think I have to replace a Fitbit every 18 months or so.
