Mine also started Monday. I called in to their help line.
Was told they are aware of this issue.
It has the highest level of support possible - it is affecting a lot of devices.
Have not heard if they have fixed it.
I turned my bluetooth off to not lose steps.

I didn’t think of that- will turn off Bluetooth as well. Did that help save your steps????

I have uninstalled the app for now but turning off bluetooth will work. If you reboot (not reset) device it will show correct steps again and I'm manually recording them for now.
Swipe to settings menu on fitbit, scroll up to reboot and select ☑

Frustrating as hell.
I started a 70 minute treadmill walk and the Fitbit showed 938 steps. Finished with a Fitbit total of 1036. WTF?! 98 steps in 70 minutes! I am slow but not THAT slow. Tracking it provided an actual count of 7852 steps plus the beginning count of 938 which would equal a total of 8790. Ugh.

I think it’s a problem when having a secondary app looking Stephs from Fitbit.

Here is how mine happens. Exercise - fitbit keeps good track of steps.
Go to sync with phone. It initially shows correct steps.
When sync is complete it shows less steps.
There was an App update last night.
Has anyone tried it?
Afraid to lose my steps.

I just finished with a live chat. Says it is their issue. And supposedly they are working on it. The rep said I had over 10000 today but the device and app show 5200
