Missing hours of my sleep

Can anyone help me understand why my sleep record says 3.29am to sleep or 2.55am to sleep when I go to bed at 10pm or 11pm??

It's nice to see you around the forums @stella62!  Hmmm... this is very strange my friend. Are you still getting just a few hours of your sleep?

One thing I recommend is switching your heart rate setting to 'On' instead of 'Auto.' If the heart rate setting is set to 'On' your heart rate will always be active. Keep in mind that you need to record heart rate to calculate sleep stages. If you were to turn off heart rate, your sleep logs will go back to the classic style.

In addition, I think it's great that you update the Fitbit app to the latest version (iOS and Android). I always recommend keeping both the tracker and the Fitbit app up to date with the latest versions.

Also, please take a look at all the requirements for receiving sleeping stages in this post

I was sleeping on a boat for a week and I think that may have interfered with the logging!!

Still back on land I go to bed at 10 or 11pm and log says I sleep at 2am but I'm editing when I know my asleep time. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for getting back @stella62! Have you tried the suggestions I shared above to see if that helps in the way your sleep is being tracked? Robot Very Happy

Don't forget double checking the following:

  • For any of the nights you were expecting to see Sleep Stages, did you ever click on the "Begin Sleep Now" or "Add Sleep Log" functions within the Fitbit App?
  • Do you have at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep?
  • Your Charge 2's battery isn't at a critically low level prior to falling asleep.
  • Your Charge 2 is tracking and syncing heart rate data.
  • Your Fitbit App is updated to the latest version (iOS, Android).

I'll be around!

I am having the same problem.  I have 2 fitbits  charge 2 and charge 3.  The charge 3 is starting my sleep times a few hours after going to sleep.  They are both up to date as I sync each day and have automatic ios updates.  There is no option ( that I could find) on the Charge 3 to change the heart rate to anything other than on or off.  If there is an ‘auto’ option then please tell me where I can find it. Thanks for any help.

My charge 3 does this too, once a week. My heart rate is recorded and low during the missing time. It just doesn’t seem to notice I went to sleep. Last night I forced a sync and changed an alarm right before bed, maybe that is part of it. I can’t remember if that’s true for previous weeks but I will start paying attention.

Am having the same issue with my Fitbit Charge 4 (bought Oct 2020).   Software is updated and on the Charge 4 I only see settings to Customize my Max heart rate.  I believe my heart rate monitoring is always on.   This issue is disappointing as sleep monitoring is one of the main reasons I bought the device.

I am having the same issue - bought my fitbit charge 4 back in August, tracked fine for the first few weeks but now every night it either starts way too late (says I started sleeping at 1.30am even though I was in bed at 11, or just stops for a couple of hours every night (eg it'll say I slept between 1.30 and 3am, then again at 4.30 until 7am). I have tried all the usual troubleshooting - rebooting, wiping the sensor, wearing it tighter. Heart rate is set to on. I set it to sensitive and it seemed to make it worse! I'm getting very frustrated as I have a chronic illness so it's really important to track my sleep.

I have this issue too with 1-2 hours missing every night, and it has happened with two different devices.

Same issue with Charge 5, I woke up at 6:30 to pee, went right back to sleep for another hour, that last hour doesn't get recorded. It always does this but I know I was asleep because I remember my dream.
