My Charge 3 connects only when the Fitbit app is open

When I start a ride or run and tap on the start button, my Charge 3 will only connect to my phone when the app is open. When the phone screen goes blank, it loses its connection and will not record my ride or run.

To try to resolve the issue, please follow the next steps:

 

- Lot out from the Fitbit app

Restart your Fitbit Charge 3 and reboot your phone

- Log back in

- Set up your Charge 3 as a replacement device:

 

  1. Tap the Today tab, and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your device and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.

 

In addition, please make sure that you are following our guide to track your exercises with GPS.

This did not solve the problem. Very disappointed! Guess it’s time for me and my clients to switch to Garmin....

Did not solve the problem. My Charge 3 stays connected until my phone screen goes dark. Then it loses its connection again. Very disappointed. I guess it’s time for Garmin.
