My Charge 3 has a black screen

I have had two Charge 3 devices.  The first stopped working and I convinced myself that I had damaged it (Of course I had also replaced the wrist band that barely lasted a year).  I purchased another Charge 3 and in less than a year the screen began to dim noticeably.  I went through all of the steps advised for this and actually managed to get the display to brighten enough to use it but the deterioration continued.  Earlier, in the Summer, the the screen went completely black and at nearly the same time the mostly useless wrist band broke.  It still tracks all of the things it is supposed to track and it syncs with my Android phone but I have no display - Absolutely 100% black.

My only question is: Can someone give me any reason to buy yet another FitBit product?  I really liked the features and think it was a good value when it worked.  But at this point I have no confidence in the overall quality of FitBit products

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @M_A_T.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Charge 3. Thank you for trying to get them resolved before contacting us.

Our team is constantly working to improve our products and services. Your feedback is highly appreciated.

In addition to the regular restart I would recommend performing a long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again

You can also try to change the clock face of your Tracker.

I thought it was fairly obvious that I had already done this, I tried again just to be thorough.

The display is dead!  It did the vibration sequences as expected but absolutely no sign of life from the display, did I mention it's dead.

So, does Fitbit have any intentions to offer an update to fix the thousands of Fitbit trackers that have black screens? I love what the Charge 3 did when it worked but at the high cost of this tracker you should be embarrassed that so many customers are feed up with this problem. You are losing hundreds of customers every week. You are only as good as your reputation and word of month spreads this news faster than you seem to realize.
