My Charge 3 has registered steps while not in movement

Over the last several months, I've had multiple instances where my Charge 3 registers between 22000 and 51000 steps between 3:15am - 3:30am, and a couple times the same thing between 7:15am - 7:30am. Drives me nuts!. My wife has the same Charge 3 and it has never happened to her. I have contacted Fitbit customer support repeatedly, but they are clueless. Anybody else seen this problem?

In this case, I would recommend updating Customer Support to obtain further assistance. Please let them know that after following their troubleshooting steps you are still experiencing the same problem. I'm pretty sure they will do their best to provide a high level of support. Thanks for replying to my problem. I have tried many times to try to work
with Fitbit customer service, but they have zero understanding of my
particular Charge 3 problem, and offer no technical answers. I just want to
know what may cause this "runaway" step issue and how it can be prevented.
