My Charge is not counting my steps on my iPhone X Fitbit app

When I got my Charge Fitbit it had an automatic update which I installed during sync & register. When I uploaded the Fitbit app to my iPhone X, it  looks good with everything available and ready to customize. But then I noticed on the top it said there was another update available. When I click on that it is a spinning wheel of death that just keeps saying loading... I do have Bluetooth on and my Fitbit is on all day sync. I am noticing that it is not tracking my steps either… What is going on??!

Was this update firmware update for the Charge. It has been over a year since the Charge got an update. 

 

When you say that the Charge is not tracking steps, or you looking at your wrist?
