My battery is draing out too fast

Hi there,

My battery empties within 30 hours. This all started quite suddenly, before I had an uptime of 4-5 days.

I've switched all energy consuming activities off and 'rebooted' the watch. I also cleaned the sensors.

Does somebody have other good idead?Smiley Happy

A warm welcome to the forums @JeroenJ! Thanks for already troubleshooting the issue with the battery, nice way to go!

You can also consider the following tips:

  • If you use the Fitbit app, make sure All-Day Sync is turned off.
  • (Android only) Turn off the Always Connected setting. Similar to All-Day Sync, it can reduce battery life.
  • If you don't need heart rate data, change the Heart Rate setting to Off. When you turn it back on, use Auto.
  • Turn off Quick View. Since it causes the screen to light up when you turn your wrist towards you, turning this setting off may prolong battery life.
  • Don't receive reminders to move every hour.
  • Turn call, text, or calendar notifications off if you know you're going to receive many hundreds of notifications. A large volume reduces battery life.
  • Use guided breathing sessions less frequently. Multiple sessions per day may reduce battery life.
  • If you have many silent alarms set, consider deleting some. Each alarm you add up to the maximum of 8 reduces battery life by a small percentage.
  • Don't charge your tracker in extreme heat or cold.

Give it a shot and let us know how it goes!

Well, switched everything off except heart rate, but still the battery drains within 2 days.

Calories are not calculated without heart rate, right? That's the parameter I'm interested in.

Exchanging the battery is quite complex, right?

Experiencing the same. I've two identical Charge 2. One is lasting for 6+ days, the other maximum 1.5 - 2 days.

I've tried all Battery tips as described in your post, but still the same. I even got an exchange, but still the same with the new tracker??

What could be the cause of one tracker working well, another being useless. You can't track valuable information if it's dying every 1.5 days.

My battery discharges within 60 minutes after a full charge. This happened about a week ago. It is useless as it is. I bought my charge 2 in Sept. 2016 (order 4SMNTZ8KY)

Yep, had the same issue with my fitbit and had to replace the Charge 2 under warranty.

It seems that this is an issue, despite using a low powered (5V, 900milliwatt) USB charger, with the Fitbit. The salesman warned me about this issue, but now we will try with the new one.

Do NOT use a USB quick charger (USB-C or Apple Lightning adapter), because it seems to fry your battery.

There is no information found on the website which USB criteria you should be aware of.

My Charge 2 is also having this issue. My husband and I purchased them on the same day and his will keep a charge twice as long as me with the same settings. Thank you for your help

Support saw my question/message and contacted me. And after a few questions I got a replacement Charge 2. Continue to sync your fitbits. Support can monitor your syncs and the amount of charge on each device. That way they know what is going on with each fitbit. Good luck. Chuck

I'm having the same trouble plus the display is fuzzy with lines running through it all of the sudden. I've tried the suggested fixes, but no success. I'd certainly welcome other suggestions.

Thanks for the useful tips in this string.  I am having a similar issue.  I received my Charge 2 in mid-May 2017 and had no issue with the battery.  I had all-day sync on, call/text on, notifications on, hourly movement reminders on, etc and the battery lasted 4-5 days.  I was very pleased since those functions are important to me.  However, about a month or so, I started experiencing a shorter battery life.  After reading the string of comments on this site, I decided to track my battery life.  On 2 Aug 2017 at 7:50 a.m., my Charge 2 was fully charged.  Within 12.5 hours, it was down to 63% and at the 24 hour point, it was at 25%.  I recharged it and at 10:30 a.m. yesterday (3 Aug 2017) it was at 100% again.  I also turned off the all-day sync function.  Within 11 hours, it was down to 60% and when I looked at it again at 8:15 a.m. this morning (the 22-hour point), it was completely discharged.  (My son has a Charge 2 and even with all functions turned on, has great battery life.)  I love my Charge 2 but this seems extreme.  If I have to turn off all of the key functions, then it's no longer useful to me.  Thoughts?

I believe you're right, it's serious.  Yesterday my Charge 2 was fully charged at noon and this morning at 7 a.m. (the 19 hour point) it was completely drained.  😞

This has also happened to me as well, but within a couple of hours. I tried all your suggestions, and the battery still drains after about 2-4 hours.

I have searched all over in the app on my iPhone and cannot find how to turn off (or on) the All-Day Sync.  Since this is a three-year old post, has this setting changed in iOS?
