I’ve just bought a charge 4 Fitbit. I used to have an Alta. Now when I go to log in they say this email address is taken by another user. How can I not use my email.

Try logging in, do not tap Join Fitbit.

You know that the User does exist, you are posting as this user. 

If you have forgotten the password, check your saved password list 

Or tap forget password,

Sorry to read this. Could you please detail a bit more ? When you login where ? On the app on your phone or on the website ? 

Is it the same account you were using with your Alta ?

Thank you for replying.
I’ve been trying to log in on my phone. I did have the Alta but it died. I deleted my Fitbit app because wasn’t sure I’d buy another one. I also changed my password today as I’d forgotten it. Don’t know what else to do now. Hope you can help. Regards.

I have a feeling that maybe a second account was created or tried to be created, and since the email must be unique, it refused. You said you changed your password ? To change a password you must log in so somehow it worked to log in ?

Yes indeed I was able to change password but still says my email address is in use by another. I think it all started when I cancelled the old Alta app.

It sounds like you are trying to create a new account with your existing email address, rather than logging into yourfexisting email. 

The fitbit account that you are posting from was createdhin 2014. Please go to your settings page where you will find the email you want to use. You probably will be able to find the password in your saved password list. 

Then log in.

Well I tried that. Comes back user does not exit or password incorrect.
I appreciate all the help just don’t know what to do anymore.

There is something I do not understand here. If you can access your Setting page then you are logged in already. So why do you need to change the password for an account you can access ? 

I still have the feeling there is a misunderstanding between creating a new account and log in to an existing account.

Hello again.
I couldn’t remember my password that’s why I requested a change. The problem is when I log in i get reply saying this email is already in use. It doesn’t seem to see me as an existing customer.
