Nothing listed here on this forum but I opened up my Fitbit app this morning and it said that a firmware update was available for my Charge 4 : Version now showing in app is 48:20001.100.76
However New features they mention have always been available for the Charge 4 so not really sure what the update was for.

Same here.... I too got the firmware upgrade, had the same observations as your good self, and I am also none the wiser as to what it provides for us Charge 4 users.....

I am afraid to download it period!!
I had the charge 5 and immediately had battery drain issues. Fitbit promised the issues would go away with the firmware update but it made it worse.
Luckily I returned it and am awaiting a refund. I still have a charge 4 however I am on my second and last charge 4 because of their known defective band issues. Currently have my band attached with crazy glue and once this one bites the dust, I am getting another product from another company.
I will not download this firmware until I see positive feedback from users.

Do not blame you one (fit)bit there as I was hesitant myself... especially when it said it could take 30 minutes to update!
Currently charging to 100% and will report back battery life in the next week. I get about 6 full days currently.
Hopefully they fixed the "Not charging" message they seemed to pop up from time to time.
Lift to wake the display seems much better on this latest version so I think they adjusted it some. My countdown timer of 1:50 had to be setup again but no big deal, firmware update must have reset it. Haven't noticed anything else as of yet.
As far as the latest app on Android it still has issues as the sleep score on the main page does not advance to the current day and only shows yesterday's stats. If I force close the app and re-open it then it shows correct info for sleep score.
As for the band/connector issues, I have read about them before I got my charge 4 so I have been very careful with mine. I have 3 different straps I use with it and when I change them I take care to make sure I fully press the button the release the straps and I then clean both the connectors on the watch and the straps and then I fully press the button when installing the straps. I don't trust the plastic connectors that Fitbit choose to use but my method seems to be working as I have had my Charge 4 over a year with no issues (as I knock on wood).
Also looking at moving to either Garmin or Samsung in the near future.

This release includes bug fixes, improvements, and a critical security update. For more information about security updates, see How do I update my Fitbit device?
Ok... so what bug fixes are included? What improvements have been made? 🙄

I think for this one we can ignore the usual 'bug fixes and improvements' words (that's the standard wording for all of their releases, be it the actual application software, or the device firmwares) - I think the key one in this release is the 'critical security update'. But yes, I think all of us would be pleased if the release info was a bit more verbose as to what has changed/is new 'under the hood'.
What I can say so far, as per my experience, is that I'm not seeing excessive battery drain (as reported by some users who took the new firmware) on my Charge 4... I checked the charge status last night at around 9pm, device told me 90%... It's now a little after 8am, been up and around for about an hour, and the battery is showing 85% full. I don't monitor the charge status like a hawk, but gut feel tells me that my device isn't behaving any different to what it did prior to installing the new firmware....

I've been unable to update as it just keeps telling me it's syncing at the moment so please wait. I've charged it, and rebooted it, but still won't let me update. Having read the responses here, I won't stress as it looks like I'm not missing out on anything.

Took me 3 attempts yesterday...first attempt had my phone tell me it was successful, but I had a lovely big cross on my charge 4 screen. second attempt gave me a nice tick/check mark on my charge 4 screen, but my fitbit app told me the update was unsuccessful. Attempt 3 saw my charge 4 with the tick, and the app telling me my device had been updated successfully

I updated my Fitbit Charge HR 4 and since the update my battery does not last a whole 18 hours. It used to last 4-5 days, now I can't make it long enough to get my step goal in...

Wish I could switch off the nag about the update. I looked at the update info I could get. Three things stood out:
1. It asks for acceptance of terms again, when I had already accepted terms when signing up to use the device originally. SO What has changed that we would be now signing up to? Not trustworthy behaviour i n my book.
2. Posting that the update is 'critical' without specifying the issue is only giving half info. Also not trustworthy behaviour.
3. The list of people reporting problems and getting offered vouchers for discount on a replacement fitbit is highly suspect behaviour.
Answer here is to ignore the update.

So I am now only getting 4 days on a full charge with the latest firmware update. 🤔
Going to charge again today and see what I get over the next days.

Don’t update! Your battery will drain and your device will be useless.

Still gets the "Not charging" message while on the charger 🙄 .. it was showing that message at 88% charged. I disconnected the C4 from the charger and reconnected it and it is up to 99% charged now.... doesn't seem to want to go to the full 100% 🙄 will keep it on charge another hour and see if it reaches 100%

PSA: Still only getting 4 full days of battery after the latest updates. Looks like others are getting even less.
