For a few nights now, my Fitbit no longer shows neither a sleep score nor my sleep stages (it shows only: time asleep, mins to fall asleep, and sleep schedule). It worked well for over a week, since my purchase, and I haven't changed anything. I think it stopped after I installed the firmware update. Please advise how to fix this, and is there a way to get the missing sleep scores/stages? Also, please confirm if the setting for sleep should be on normal or sensitive. Thank you!

Hello @SteppingSteph I figured you did not see sleep stages because this is needed before a user will have a sleep score.
Let's first check that your tracker has the heart rate enabled.
Now let's open one or more sleep periods in question. Look directly under the simple sleep graph. This is where the sleep tips normally are found, but you should see a note as to why you are seeing simple sleep.

Frustrated with inconsistent sleep stats. Sometimes I get a sleep score and sometimes I don’t. Last night said “no measurements”. I make sure app is up and running, click “I’m asleep” and “I’m awake” and “Done”. Wearing Fitbit on non-dominant arm in same place every night. Both iPhone and Fitbit 4 are charged.

Same thing, I was getting sleep scores and detailed sleep data (it was great); then I installed the new firmware update and enabled smart alarm and since then I have not received any detailed sleep data.

Also, to add to my previous post; I do see heart rate data for the entire night, slept for 7 hours, and had a batter level of 85% in the morning so it's none of the problems that Fitbit suggests.

But what does the Fitbit app say?
Let's stop guessing?

I think maybe the issue could be the new "Sleep Mode", which was part of the firmware update. Last night I got a Sleep Score again and I only did two different things: I did not turn on Sleep Mode and also did not use the app to click "Begin Sleep Now".

Thanks @Rich_Laue for your assistance, but I do not have that section that you highlight.

Yeah, I don't have that section either.
I did get sleep data for last night, so hopefully the issue is resolved.
I don't think I did anything different... but I did trim the hair around where the sensor sits... I feel like that probably isn't why it's fixed but I can't help be a bit suspicious

When you say sleep data, is this oppose to no sleep recorded? Or Sleep stages vs Simple Sleep?

I went back and looked at my daily sleep record and can no longer find one that says "No measurement". It has happened only once and I don't recall exactly what was displayed but vaguely remember it giving the start and stop time for my sleep and below that it said no measurement. When it happened, I checked it several times that morning to see if there was updated information but there wasn't. Now, when I look at the last 5 days, which I'm sure is within the timeframe of it happening, I see Time Asleep, Sleep Schedule and Sleep Quality on 3 days and a Sleep Score on the other 4 days. I'm not doing anything differently on those 7 nights and don't understand why sleep score not provided. Thanks.

I am able to get a score when I do both of the following things: do not turn on Sleep Mode on the tracker & do not press Begin Sleep Now on the app.
The other night when I did not turn on Sleep Mode but did use the app to start and finish, I did not get the sleep score.

I never turn sleep on or off but last night the results changed. I noticed there is no REM sleep as a category. OOPS firmware update lost features way to go IT

I'm experiencing the same issues and I think the OP has the right idea. I didn't even make the connection to the new update until I read this post.
Pre-update:
Post-update:
I've tried all the suggestions on "Why did I get basic Sleep Details?" and they were all generic and nothing worked. I have years worth of sleep scores until the update. I've never used "Begin Sleep Now." So...I'm thinking it is related to the update and not because I've suddenly changed my sleep position every night, all of a sudden not getting three hours of sleep every night, and had a critically low battery every night. What I'm going to try tonight is to turn off the "FitBit Smart Wake Up" alarm. I hope that works, but I'm pretty sure they need to do some sort of update to fix the last update.

Hi @Wickywacky since your app doesnt have a reason for simple sleep, is your heart rate turned on and working?
@Kccc your screen shwent to far, let's tap on a night in question, the next page under the chart may have a reason for simple aleep?
@Dfp7113 did you get simple sleep reporting or sleep stages? If simple sleep, what does the app say?
Yes using sleep start now in the app will prevent the user from seeing sleep stages, no stages, no score.
For info on the Sleep mode on the tracker see page 18 of your user manual.
It has no affect on the recording of sleep, it simply keeps the tracker from interrupting while sleep.
The user would set up a sleep schedule then turn this sleep on.
When the sleep mode setting is on:
To schedule sleep mode to
automatically turn on during certain hours

Hi @Rich_Laue,
Here is a screen shot of any night in question. It is now all nights. Sleep score worked consistently for years until the middle of July and hasn't worked one night since. I'm pretty sure it is something to do with the July update that added smart alarm. When I click on "Why did I get basic sleep details?", the information I get is generic, I've tried it all, and none of it makes a difference. I wear my device the same way I always have when it used to work. I don't use the Begin Sleep Now. I sleep more than 3 hours. My device battery is not critically low. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've disconnected and reconnected the Charge 4. I've reset the Charge 4. I've put it on my other arm. I've wiped off the back of it. I've tried it all. Nothing has helped. At this point, I'm fairly resigned to the fact that it won't work unless Fitbit does some sort of software update that fixes whatever caused this. I never had any issues with my old Charge 2 and the Charge 4 worked until the update. One of the reasons I bought the Charge 4 was because of the Estimated Oxygen Variation and I'm disappointed that it no longer works. Maybe it is a hardware issue and not a software issue, but that will mean it will never for me and I have no hope in a miracle update and fix. Oh well.

I'm not even getting time. It's completely blank, as if I didn't wear to bed. I've never had an issue with this before, that will teach me to do the darned upgrades. Should have known better.

I’m having exactly the same problem. I followed all the advice to fix the problem. I even bought a new Charge 4 but that has the same problem. It’s very disappointing. Don’t know where to go from here.BW.
