I'm not connecting to get notifications

Thanks for stopping by @coca, hope you're doing great! Woman Very Happy Would you mind double checking if your Fitbit app is up-to-date? The app for iOS should be on 2.37 and 2.52 for Android.

If after checking this, your notifications are still not working, I'd recommend following the steps I'm posting below:

  • Your mobile devices were too far away. It must be within 20 feet of your tracker to transmit the notification.
  • With iOS only, for texts, you have the conversation open on your mobile device. Your tracker displays new texts you haven't already read.
  • You changed a related setting on your mobile device, such as turning on Do Not Disturb.
  • You're using another Bluetooth product. If you have Bluetooth products like speakers, headsets, or car stereos paired to your mobile device along with your tracker, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. For example, turning on your speaker might stop your mobile device from sending a notification or syncing.
  • The connection between your mobile device and tracker is unstable. Bluetooth signals are susceptible to disconnecting or dropping occasionally, and reliability varies by Android device and operating system. For the best chances of success (note that this is for Android only):
    • Make sure Enable Notification Widget is on. You can find this with the other notification settings in the Fitbit app.
    • Make sure Always Connected is on. This improves your Bluetooth connection but also drains your tracker's battery more quickly. Turn it off and on as you prefer.
  • Your tracker was syncing. Syncing can sometimes prevent or delay a notification.

If you've reviewed the list above and can't get notifications to work:

  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Restart your Charge 2.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

If notifications are still missing try restarting your trackers once again and resetting notifications. Notifications should work as expected after your tracker syncs.

Let me know if that does the trick! Smiley Very Happy

i just bought mine today 03/10/18.  I've followed all their suggestions and still can't get text notifications.

I do however get call notifications.  Very disappointing.   Everything  has been updated, so that is not the issue.  I have an iphone 6 plus

Iv had my Fitbit for just over a year, so I’m guessing the guarantee won’t cover it, I’m finding it very frustrating especially when I’m getting call notifications. It’s just text messages!

It looks like I may have just found the problem, try this because it seems to have worked for me,

I have an IPhone 6s, go to settings, notifications, messages, then scroll down to ‘show in history’ my slider was on off, turned it on and eureka my text message notifications on my Fitbit have started working again, happy days! Hope this helps others with the same issue.

I wish I could do that on my SE.  There isn't the show in history part.  Any ideas for the older phone?

My Fitbit Charge 2 was working perfectly with my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. On my new Samsung Galaxy S9 the text notification is not working for new unread texts, test call has a delay but does work. I've tried unpairing everything, uninstalling the app and reinstalling entering in my preferences from scratch. As well as restarting the fitbit charge 2, syncing, keep alive etc all turned on, checking the phone settings(notifications are enabled) plus checking in depth Fitbit app settings through phone settings changing priorities to urgent with no success on any of my test texts. Any ideas?

Thanks Diane. I'd imagine there were software changes between the android on the s9 and the s7. Increased settings which is probably effecting the Fitbit app. Alarms and call notifications are all working, just texts that aren't.

Now, for the notifications issue on your Charge 2 , please tell us the following information:

  1. Do you keep Bluetooth and WiFi data "ON" on your phone? Do you use mobile data when you are outside?

To troubleshoot the notifications, please follow these steps:

Also please check that these settings are all "ON" for the notifications on your device :

In the Fitbit App:

  • Please go to the Fitbit app on your Android
  • Once you are on the dashboard, please click on the account icon on the upper right-hand corner. It looks like a little credit card.
  • Now, in the settings menu, tap on the Fitbit that shows up under your name.
  • Once in the menu, scroll down to "Notifications" and tap on the option.
  • Check that the notification settings for Call, text, and calendar are "ON".
