No notifications to my Charge 2 from a Samsung Galaxy A10

I recently got a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy A10 which was released in February this year, and I can't get any notifications from the phone to my fitbit Charge 2.  I've deleted the device from the app and re-added it, I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it several times, I've resynced the fitbit to the phone using the 4 digit pin several times, no matter what I try, I can't get the notifications to come through.

I gather that the phone is not supported with the device, can someone please explain to me why a phone from one of the bigger names in mobile phones, that has been out for 5 months, is still not supported by my fitness tracker?

@zalenkarina Welcome! It's great to see you around!

Let me help you with your Charge 2 notifications and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. As you mentioned your phone doesn't show as compatible but that doesn’t mean it won’t work it just means that it hasn’t been tested by our team. You can try the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find additional suggestions here.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, thanks for the stock response.  I've tried all that, the Charge 2 did show up briefly in the Available devices and I was able to click it, it said Pairing for a while and then came back with Couldn't pair.  Check settings for this device and try again.  I've tried it twice and this isn't the first time I've seen this message.

I looked at the permissions as you suggest, Location is enabled, but the settings for bluetooth aren't available, it looks like the app isn't even requesting them.  The permissions listed under 'Other app capabilities' related to bluetooth are pair with Bluetooth devices and Access Bluetooth settings but I can't find any way to enable either of them.  The best I can do is get them to tell me what they allow the app to do.

Can I ask why the app hasn't been tested with this phone?  I thought I'd be safe in buying a Samsung and I miss my notifications.
