No sleep last night recorded

This morning, I synced my Fitbit, and it is showing nothing, just the "how did you sleep last night". I know I can manually add also but I like seeing my restlessness. What can I do to make sure it works tonight?

Hmmm.... strange let me say @Lisamls! Please try doing the following:

  • Log out of your Fitbit App
  • Force quit the App
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit App

Even when you've synced, please try re-syncing your tracker 2 times in a row to see if the sleep is not being delayed to be showed up on your app.

Keep me posted!

GymGood morning @Lisamls, are you using the app to view your data? Have you tapped through and looked at the sleep summery screen? I often find doing this speeds up the calculation of sleep. They way sleep works is that your data is sent to the Fitbit server, now on the server Fitbit analyzes the data. It is looking for possible times of sleep or period of exercises. Once they are found these period get marked.

Now let's look at the app it syncs your data, then goes out to Fitbit to get the latest data, normally your sleep has been detected by now, and your sleep shortly shows.

However if the server is busy, the sleep might not have been calculated, doing a refresh in a few minutes usually will update the sleep.

Personally I have never had a sleep period longer than 15 minutes not detected,  Fitbit says needs to be an hour minimum, but plausible it has taken an hour or two to show up for me. Once it was 6 hours, but then it was the the first sync in 36 hours with 3 sleep periods.

While the above might not very helpful, it might give some understanding to why sleep might not show up immediately, I'll refresh the screen but not worry, at sometime in the day it shows up.

I have also noticed sleep, along with other data, might show up first on Fitbit.com. The latest app updates have been getting better.

Bottom line, force a refresh, or tap through to the sleep summery screen.

What does restless mean? Like I have so many periods of restless but have no clue what it means

It means your moving around but not really awake.

Accurate response @Rich_LaueSmiley Wink A restless state of sleep indicates that you moved from a very restful position into one involving greater movement, such as turning over in bed. If you change your position in bed it will qualify as restless if the position is not as restful as the previous one.

I have exactly the same problem, I've tried the solution, reboots etc but to no avail. I've also tried with a laptop rather than the iOS app.

Welcome aboard @Crabbers, hope you're having a great day! Thanks for letting me know the steps you've done so far.

Is this the first time you face this issue? I'd recommend restarting your Charge 2, 3 times in a row. Then, please keep in an eye on your tracker's behavior to see if this does the trick.

I'll be around to hear your good news! Smiley Very Happy

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. I tried multiple restarts and then deleting some sleep/exercise data which seemed to do the trick !

Hello. I have had my Charge for 2.5 months now and all tracking has been flawless including sleep. Last night, however, it did not record any sleep. I did have a VERY rough night of sleep. I tried all the above steps and still no data. Is it possible that I had such a rough night that it didn't record anything or would it still have some data such as restlessness? Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by @CjWright86, welcome to the forums! Smiley Very Happy Time asleep is calculated by subtracting your time awake or restless from the overall tracked time. For example, if you slept eight hours, but woke up two times for 15 minutes each, the time asleep will show 7 hr 30 min.

As you may know already, autodetection is based on your movement. When you haven’t moved for about an hour, your tracker assumes that you’re asleep. Additional data—such as the length of time your movements are indicative of sleep behavior (such as rolling over, etc.)—help confirm that you’re asleep. Morning movement tells your tracker that you’re awake.

You can fine tune your sleep history in the Fitbit app by editing or deleting sleep logs by doing the following:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the sleep tile. This is the tile that says "How did you sleep?" or, if you tracked sleep the night before, shows how many hours and minutes you slept.
  2. Tap the sleep log you want to edit.
  3. Tap the three dots and find the option to edit.
  4. Adjust the time you went to sleep or the time you woke up. Don't forget to save.

However, I was wondering if you have checked that your Charge 2 is properly linked to your account? Are you using more than 1 tracker at a time?

Thank you Marre. Last night it tracked my sleep fine just like it has the last 2.5 months. I think what happened the night before, based on your answer, is that the tracker never sensed I slept because it was such a fitful night sleep. Example would be if you pulled an all nighter studying or working or partying and the tracker never stopped moving then there would be no data.

i think your explanation about the server delay is the best one for me.  it took 3 syncs over some minutes before the data appeared.

i'm guessing that just waiting for the server response does it.  i bet i don't need to click "sync" more than once.
