When receiving texts on my iPhone 8.    Don’t hear any sound out of the phone when connected to Fitbit charge 2

Let me help you with your notifications. You will need to check your iPhone's settings but I also suggest you refresh the link between your phone and your device by doing the following:

 

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device.
  • You can find additional suggestions here.

I have the same issue and this solution is not really helpful.  I'm not going to delete all of my Bluetooth devises to "see" if that solves the problem.

You don't need to do this if you don't want to. Still there are other suggestions in my reply that you can try on your phone.
