My charge 4 does not log steps while I walk and shop and my hands are holding the cart.

Hi @SunsetRunner  these are wrist based devices and count on us to be swinging our arms to get those steps recognized. It's the same if you're pushing a stroller, holding something close to your chest, so many people will tuck the Fitbit into their pocket so the movement is counted. If you were a drummer in a band, a knitter or waving in a parade, the steps could be much higher.
