According to Fitbit:

"There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern."

Assuming that this is the result of automatic sleep logging, I found a few things to be helpful. First, of course as was referenced previously, those can be some reasons. But I’ve found that sometimes they’re not. In these cases, what I have done is delete the automatic log and add a new log manually. Enter the same times it picked up sleep, or enter the times you went to bed and woke up. More often than not, this will resolve that issue.

Occasionally, doing this might still yield simplified details. In this case, try shortening the time of sleep (not less than 3-4 hours). You’ll probably get sleep stages, then you can edit the log to more accurately reflect the time you were asleep. I do suggest doing this somewhat gradually, because at a certain point for whatever reason that I don’t know, it’ll flip back to simplified details. And then you have to delete it and start again, although this time you have better knowledge of the frame to work with.

Thanks for the advice. The sleep tracker seemed to be ok the next day & is back on track.

HI there- I am having the same issues- in 6 weeks and 4 days it has only shown my sleep twice, the rest has just been the generalised sleep pattern. Tried everything that I could find on this forum and on the net- I think I just have to admit that I have a faulty Charge 2.  Very diappointed to be honest. Worked like a dream at the start now it just a watch.

anyone one any thoughts?
