Resting Heart Rate Increase (Charge HR)

Does anyone know why this could be happening? For the past few months, my resting heart rate has consistently been between 69-72. Now for some reason it is increasing daily, and I have not changed my routine at all. (I workout 4-5 times per week; average 13-14,000 steps per day) Typically your resting heart rate is supposed to decrease when you're more active. I know my Fitbit is not always going to be 100% accurate for measuring things like this, but I'm still curious. Any thoughts?

This is so similar to mine. Rest heart rate 62-66. Now it’s like 77-79. What gives. I am still exercising and eating properly and I don’t feel overly stressed.

My heart rate is doing the same - it has steadily increased over the last 2 weeks. What i find odd is that I had a baby 3 weeks ago, and during pregnancy my heart rate only increased a few bears per minute, now it’s up nearly 20bpm!

Mine has been risen recently (low 70s instead of mid 60s).  Graph looks rather like several shown in this thread.

Could a Fitbit software update be to blame?

I am experiencing the same

Resting heart rate normally 51-53 and now increased to 56-57

I am eating well, gym every day and not stressed

This is strange

I wondered if it’s because I’m peri menopausal 🤔931A8A48-FC9F-4DB0-B158-7967AB6E9676.png

So strange! I’ve had the same problem! Usually at 60 ... climbed every day up to 66. I keep thinking I’m getting the flu or my body is fighting some winter infection, or possibly overtraining. I got a new tracker 2 days ago but it was already climbing daily.  Very odd that this is going on with many people!

I'm having the same problem. Started working out in December. Resting heart rate was 63 on 30 Dec. It's slowly been climbing and is now at 69. I have been quite tense and stressed out. I'm hoping that's all it is 😞

I'm beginning to think January ushered in some programming changes to their algorithm.  Too many are noticing it climb.  I'm noticing mine climb even though it normally goes down this time of year when I am teaching skiing 7 days a week and losing weight.  Mine has climbed in the past few weeks and is now saying higher than it has said in the past year.  My actual heart rate it self at rest on the graph and when sleeping is not raising.  Sine my heart rate is quite low at rest, my husband says, it was registering too low before...Maybe.  I wouldn't worry unless you are in an unhealthy range.  There is a wide range of acceptable HR's.  Now you could just spot check when you wake 3 times in first 10 minutes before becoming active and work it out the old fashioned was with the average over a week.

Agreed. It’s back down to 70 now. I workout 6 days a week, eat healthy, I’m in good shape. So I guess I shouldn’t worry about. Just seemed strange! I’ll take your advice and do it the old fashion way a few times a day.

My resting heart rate has gone from 57 to 65 in less than a month....has to be programming issue...

I’ve noticed a pretty drastic jump in mine since my Fitbit update. My rhr has never been over 71 and is consistently low-mid 60’s. The past two weeks it is 72-75. That’s a huge jump. I’m chalking it up to the Fitbit since nothing has changed in my workouts or health.

Has yours gone back down yet? Just wondering since I’m going through same problem with mine. Usually low-mid 60’s & since update to Fitbit, now low-mid 70’s.

Hello, unfortunately it doesn’t come down, that must have been an accuracy issue...

Mine has stuck around 8-10pts higher than initial readings? No idea why. Oh well ..... 🤷🏻‍:male_sign:

Not really... it went from low to mid 60’s to high 70’s. Now it’s 70 for a few weeks. I’m not sure if it was a glitch or stress?

I think I've identified the reason for mine - don't know if it may apply to others but I wore my fitbit on my ankle during a spin class and it made my heart rate go through the roof and muck up my average - so now I know why mine was elevated - maybe others have dome something similar 🙂

I just find it strange that it would jump almost 10 bpm in a week or so since the update. Not sure if the glitch was that the prior readings were incorrect or the new? Hmm...

I've been seeing a consistent increase on the fit bit but, if I take it the traditional way I used to measure, within 2 to 5 minutes of waking and average it over a few weeks, it's about 10 points lower which is what fitbit used to report to me.

I'm still thinking they might be playing with their algoritym, or the fact I teach skiing in the winter and have 400 plus minutes a day in fat burning (i'm teaching 6 to 7 hours a day, 7 days a week more weeks) might affect the algoritym.  But it didn't seem to start climbing until after January and I start my winter work/ski schedule in November.

My heart rate has gone up quite considerably in the last month due to a family bereavement so stress / anxiety caused by elevated cortisol in the body has an effect.  Need to start back on the mindfulness meditation!
