When I look at Zone Minutes on getting up in the morning, as expected, there are no active minutes recorded. However, when I do exercise later on in the day & record active minutes, the Zone Minute record changes retrospectively, showing a spike in active minutes around 1 or 2am in the morning!
The heart rate record doesn't change.
I have discussed this with FB support, over the last couple of months & done all the things they suggested - rebooting, re-installing the app [on my phone & on another phone], replacing the Charge 4 with another one etc, & still the problem exists. There has been 4 app updates since I identified this issue in Jul-21.
After 44 days of communicating with them they said 'you have tried all the needed steps that's why we've offered a replacement'. I can't believe a third Charge 4 would correct the problem.
Dealing with FB support has been frustrating & disappointing - different people, different advice, incorrect problem classification, incorrect device classification, requests to provide information already provided etc. The worst thing really is they are not concerned that I have identified a problem for them, & my offers to continue to help with their diagnostics are ignored.
The Charge 3 was excellent & I expected the Charge 4 to be similar. I had previously been an advocate of Fitbits, however, I will now be looking for an alternative product.
Any advice on what I should go for?

I'm experiencing the same thing.
I took screenshots today. Though the retrospective "midnight spike" is usually higher, it's still there.
I hope Fitbit acknowledge the problem and fix it.

Hi Jen. I spent some months with Fitbit support with no resolution. Tried everything including replacement Charge 4, running app on different phone etc. Eventually told that I’d done everything possible - offered another replacement! Decided to change to Charge 5. Only had it couple of days but guess what? Looks like same problem. Can’t believe other Fitbit users aren’t also reporting.

Well it’s definitely happening to me, exact scenario as yours: after exercise.
Seems strange they offered you a replacement tracker as it seems to point to something in the programming of the app to me 🤷🏻:female_sign:
Indicative that they haven’t addressed the issue correctly.

Yup. The same is happening with the Charge 5 - retrospective spike in active minutes in the early hours of the morning when I’m asleep and my heart rate is low!
The spike only appears after real active minutes are earned!

I am experiencing the exact same problem but I have a Fitbit Versa 2. The active minutes appear at the same time in the early morning (approx 1am) after I have been to the gym in the morning around 9am. My heart rate is also low at 1am because I am asleep! Fitbit needs to fix this issue - I agree it must be in the app not the Fitbit itself.

I wouldn’t hold your breath while you wait. I’ve had four separate cases (2 x Charge 4 & 2 x Change 5) for exactly the same problem and no one seems to have connected the cases!
The problem could be worse - at the moment the false/spurious active minutes are not counted in your total!
