Screen display fading on my Charge 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So about 2 days ago I noticed that the top of the display on my Charge 2 is beginning to fade away, so that now the time is quite dark and difficult to read.

I'm not sure what has triggered this, i'm very careful not to get my tracker wet (other than when i sweat when working out, which is unavoidable) however it does seem to be spreading further down the display.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

When the issue remains, it's likely a screen / hardware issue, the support team can then be contacted:

Hi all

Restarting doesn't work at all. Not sure what is the issue but I've just wasted SGD250 buying a tracker that lasted me 1y4m =(

Yes!! having the same issue and I am very careful with my Fitbit!! very disappointed..its been 1 year and 6 months..clearly I'm out of the warranty period.

restarted my tracker 3 times.. completely black now.... nothing.. I will never buy another FITBIT!!

FIT BIT DISPLAY FADED in 2 DAYS.... reset it 3x. Called customer service. Out of WARRANTY and they will not replace. I  I was very careful with regards to use and care. NOT a quality product..

Screen fading seems to be a very common problem. I have it too, and have the same reference to a warranty period. While the warranty period is generally useful for problematic issues that aren't design flaws, when the problem is widespread there is usually some consideration to the value each customer gets from the product purchased, and I would say that 15-18 months isn't the length of time I had in mind when I purchased by Fitbit, and won't be enough when I shop for a replacement. My screen is now totally faded, and people I speak with are shocked that this can happen. I believe that the message of poor design needs to get out so that people can choose products that will last instead of those that won't - instead of only posting here, I encourage you to review the product where you purchased it and include a mention of the screen issue that is common across other Fitbit devices - search for "screen fading" in this community and outside and see dozens of posters across the spectrum of Fitbit devices who are told to reset their device and fix the problem (it doesn't fix the issue).

I am out of warranty by 8 months and the refuse to help me other than a @25% discount which is the same prices at retailers when the item is on sale.

I use to be ok with Fitbit. Customer service was easy. Chat at convenient hours. Got my broken Fitbit replaced. Not so much if your out of warranty. I had to go online and see the ridiculous amount of people having the same issue as me with screen fade. Huge manufacturers defect and WE are still stuck but they want to push more crap out knowing customers will just buy it. So many bugs. I was going to buy the ionic but last minute went with the Apple Watch, I regret nothing.

Mine exactly the same. This is the second one, since the first one I got (December 2017) had an issue less than a year later and they sent a replacement. This issue with the display fading is new... I guess I will try the reset thing one more and call... The good thing is that the service is great and they really make it up for you.Fitbit display fading

Same here, I just used it for 1.5 years, and the screen is fading now. I previously had a Flex and it died in less than 2 years. No more fitbit.

@Tonyllu It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community!

I will assist you with your Charge 2 and sorry for the delay in my response. Have you tried any troubleshoots? Since you don't mention any I suggest you restart your device.

Let me know how it goes.

Of course that didn't fix the issue. But this is all Fitbit has in their bag of troubleshooting tricks.

Poor battery life? Reboot!

Heart rate tracking feature not working? Reboot!

Parts of your screen starting to disappear? Reboot!

Here is how it's gonna go...Your first Charge 2 will die in about 10 months. They will send you a replacement "pebble". This one will also die in 10 months. And guess what? No more replacements for you!

Then they will offer you 25% off on "select" fitbits, but you gotta make the decision to use this most generous offer in 30 days.

Here is the bottom line: If you stick with fitbit, plan on giving them money every two years for a new device.

That’s why I just gave up. They keep pushing out new product with the same issues. Customers who can, figure, ah well, the new Fitbit is out I’ll just get that. Fitbit isn’t meant to last.

you advise on how to contact UK support? My charge 2 screen is starting to fade at less than 2 years old. Bought from Amazon in July 2017

Unfortunately if your experience is like mine there isn’t a point to contacting support, unless you are interested in a time limited (30-45 days) offer for a small discount on another purchase. I’m still wearing my Fitbit although the screen is fully dark all the time - it is valuable to me to be able to show people how it looks now .... and explain what Fitbit didn’t do to support their product. I’m sorry to hear about your experience.

I've had my fitbit charge 3 for 12 months now and the last couple of months the screen has faded terribly.  Can't see it at all in daylight now and at night it's nowhere as bright as it first was! Is this a common problem? Can anything be done? ... I sent this to the online chat and they're sending me a new tracker. So pleased I looked in to it! A year isn't long for a watch to last though I don't think! I hadn't realised they have a 2 year warranty in the UK .

I don't have a button on my charge cord.  It is the original cord.  Could this be an earlier model?  How do I sync the Fitbit without it?  My time display is fading.
