Screen not awakening with wrist movement

My Charge 3 does not respond when I move my wrist?  Received as gift in 12/18 and would always awaken to show time or current activity whenever I would move my wrist as if

looking at a conventional watch.  Recently it just stopped doing this & only way I can read the watch is to push the side button to manually activate the screen?? Any suggestions?

Here is the answer from fitbit:

Press and hold the button and tap Screen Wake.

My charge 3 will not come on when i double tap or move my arm.  I have to push the button.  I have tried to turn screen awake on with the icon but nothing happens.
