Serious hollow on my wrist caused by wearing Fitbit Charge

Hello, I have been wearing my Fitbit Charge HR since November. I love it, but I am concerned that I know have some serious wasting/indentation/hollow on the upper side of my wrist. I do not wear it too tight - it has to be tight enough to record my heart rate. I do not wear it at night, so it is only during the day, and it is on my non-dominant hand. I have removed it now, and reluctant to put it back on.

Would this be grounds for a refund, since I really don't want to continue to wear it.

I’ve had to discontinue wearing my Fitbit sadly due to my terrible hollow indentation and atrophy like you are describing. I’m actually not too happy about that being Fitbits are not cheap! It’s been almost 5 months not wearing it and I’m finally starting to see my wrist somewhat turn back to normal although it’s still very noticeable!

I’m glad your wrist is improving. I don’t think mine ever will.

What I'd like to know is why is Fitbit so uninterested in this?

I would like to know why also! It’s clearly a problem!

Wow. The thing that is so strange is I’ve only been wearing it for a few months and it’s already really indented. Sigh.

What they know is that anything worn too tightly on the wrist or ankle or anywhere WILL cut off circulation & cause an indent in the skin!

Put a rubber band on your wrist & wear it for awhile! It will do the same thing!

If it's causing an indent you are wearing it too tight

OMG people...read the comment from the dermatologist's daughter! Do you really think a father would lie to his kid?

It's fat! It's NOT a health factor as long as you aren't cutting off circulation! If you do your hand will go numb, turn dark & you'll end up with gangrene!

No it is not! It has nothing to do with tightness. I did not wear it tight at all. And I haven’t worn it in over 3 years! This is permanent!

A permanent dis figuration is wrong whether it’s unhealthy or not!

I don't know how many times everyone will have to tell you we are not wearing the fitbit tight.

Nope. As others have said, I wear mine so loose that it slides down. It is just the shape. It has a large protruding back that is naturally going to push into the wrist if you are wearing the band which is flat. That’s just basic physics.

Your comments are really contributing anything here. And you seem overly fired up over it. It’s unattractive. I have started wearing my watch upside down so that I don’t have the huge dent there. But if you don’t have anything positive to contribute to this discussion, MoveOn.

What an assumption to make. I am not wearing it too tightly. I have worn a regular watch every day of my life since I was 5 years old i.e. 56 years and have never had an indent as I have from my Fitbit despite most of my watches being close-fitting.  I can easily fit my thumb between the band and my wrist so could not have it any looser than it is. I reported this issue to them in 2017 and they gave me a refund which tells me that they know this is an issue caused by their product. My wrist slowly returned to normal. Someone gave me a new Fitbit as a gift and because I have been having tachycardia issues I decided to wear it - the indent has returned even worse than before. It is NOT by any means caused by tightness. I am going to switch to an Android and see if it improves.

that is a bit weird as my wrist returned to normal when I stopped wearing my Fitbit. Indented again as I started to wear one due to heart rate issues. Going to stop and see what happens.

I have worn a Charge for several years now, near continuous wear this past year. I have never had a problem. I had it off to charge a  week ago, my wrist was normal. I took it off to charge today and I have a a depression all the way around, but the top is by far the worst. Again, I've worn this for years with no problem. It's never tight as I can't stand having something tight against my skin. I had no idea this was a thing. I'm VERY put out to see that it clearly is a big issue and it's probably not from not drinking enough water today or a new medication. I'm not  sure what to do about it, continue to wear it or throw it away. Well, while finding this post is helpful, it is also a total downer. 😒

I have an Inspire HR and just looked up this thread because I'm having this problem. I can fit two fingers under my band. Any looser and there's no point in wearing it. Although I have my concerns and I'm going to keep an eye on it, I haven't lost any sensation or function in my hand, so I think it's probably just fat distribution.

Not sure how bad your indentation was but soinds simar to "pitting edema". Excess water in your body. Not a doctor or anything but i weare mine pretty tight and have no long lasting issues. if i remove it frew minutes or less cannot tell i was wearing it

I have had my Fitbit for 8 months and was really loving it until I saw the severe tissue wastage on my wrist i have a massive large hollow ! I will be heading for a scan to check for any serious damage and have stopped wearing. I did stop wearing at night a few months back. Think there needs to be some research into this tissue wastage it’s very concerning. My neighbor has also stopped wearing hers as she has the same issue. Funny how the actual band does not create a hollow mark .....have worn watches all my life never had a problem before.

I quit wearing the one that caused my problem. Switched to a different model. Hollow will never go away. Fitbit is totally unconcerned about this situation.

I don’t know how to contact them directly. They make it very difficult.
