Set up two Charge 2 devices on one account

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just got a second Charge 2 and would like to add it to my account. However, the app is forcing me to disconnect the first one in order to add the second one. How do I connect both to my account so I can switch back and forth between them?

@LesAK,

Thank you for your response.  I do honestly apologize for the characterization.  You're right, you merely stated that you're on another platform now and that you indeed want (wanted?) this feature, for me to conclude that they were correlated was not fair.

Had I realized that you had issues syncing your trackers, I would've chimed in to try to resolve those issues.  Alas it's too late, but if you should return to the platform and encounter this again, please either PM me or post and tag me...  I've been able to occasionally help friends who have been unable to sync.

For whatever it's worth, newer Fitbit trackers of different model don't currently work on the same account.  I don't agree with Fitbit's decision not to support this, but I can only hope that they listen.

I think Fitbit does observe the tabulated feature requests because it's easier to count.  The remainder of the forums (like this thread) is designed mostly to allow users to exchange ideas.  Do they look at it?  Yes, but probably not as much as people expect.  For instance, @ablair will occasionally respond to this thread by responding to e-mail, and the mail program they use inserts a signature with a whole lot of personal contact information.  The moderators generally don't notice this; I'll flag those post with a request to remove personal information.

Incidentally, @ablair this isn't a criticism, but if you want to avoid having your personal information posted here on the forums (or other forums in which you post), consider either posting through the web browser or carefully removing your signature on your response before sending to protect your privacy.

Granted it's not necessarily the case that the requests with the most votes will be implemented next; it's a decision based on complexity of the feature, the amount of resources, etc.  That said, if a feature does not get many votes, it's very likely that it'll be implemented later (if at all).  So my advice to you (and the other readers), is to search and vote for the features that you feel are most important.

Fitbit has retired their One model, which was their last strictly clip-on model.  However they did introduce the Fitbit Inspire (not the Inspire HR) which you may configure as a clip-on.  You may consider this if you don't want to wear a tracker on your wrist at all and are open to return to Fitbit.

I'd like to personally thank you for keeping the conversation civil and more importantly for calling me on the poor generalizations that I've made.

PureEvil,

Not a problem and thank you for your response.

I didn't take offence as errors and unintentional differences in perception do occasionally occur.

It's been very interesting reading the different perspectives, and yes, should I return to Fitbit and have a problem I'll certainly give you a post.

Because these posts are so interesting I do periodically revisit them in order to see what, if any progress has been made. To hear that 'newer Fitbit trackers of different model don't currently work on the same account' is a real surprise. I would think that would have to be considered a retrograde step. However I wonder it Fitbit are trying to be the conscience of people, a bit like my previous reference to my ability to cheat should I wish to do so.

You know, I don't need to wear two trackers to cheat as I can do it 'honestly?'. I've found that the trackers of all brands are not 100% accurate, and of course the manufacturers acknowledge this.

For instance I've found that when I'm cooking and stirring a pot my current tracker will occasionally record my wrist movement as a step, or record a step as a 'stair' step, when it's not.

Both of which I find curious and mildly annoying.

Anyway enough tinsel.

Cheers

@LesAK,

I agree about the newer trackers; this seems to me like a regression.  I think it has something to do with their acquisition of either Pebble or Vector and maybe some of that code assumes one device per account?  Here's the feature request to fix that if you want to upvote it; it seems like they're considering it.

There's no perfect algorithm to track activity so people who stay stationary but use their hands a lot (like cashiers and baristas) register more steps with wrist trackers and people who push things on wheels (like nurses) register fewer steps.  It's about the law of averages.  For most people it all comes out in the wash.

The reason I have two charge 2 fitbits is so that I can wear a different color band without having to change it. My previous experience with changing bands is that the clasp breaks and then I have to buy a new one.

I need two charge 2 devices because I can't wait for one to charge before I go to work. The battery only lasts 3 to 4 days tops. I would like there to be no interruption in my tracking steps and sleep. I dont understand why I cant connect two of the same device. My husband stopped using his so i was going to alternate based on which one needs charged.

@bbirkeland,

Welcome to the community!

Do you shower regularly?  You can't wear your Charge 2 in the shower, so just plug it in to charge.  The Charge 2 is not waterproof (so you can't wear it in the shower) and I don't imagine that you're getting a whole lot of steps in the shower.

You can get around 25% charge on your battery in about 17 minutes.  I demonstrated that in an earlier post.  So if you shower everyday and plug your Fitbit to charge, you can maintain the charge indefinitely.

Or do you walk while you eat?  If not plug it in to charge when you sit down for dinner.

I hope this helps.

You are not alone... I got my 11 yr old son an ionic for Christmas... Due to his age and having a parent link email account he is unable to have it linked to his own phone. I am devastated to discover this cannot be added to my own account!! Not entirely certain what I plan to do yet. The only one you can link the family app to is the ace... I am not happy at all. Pleased I have found the answer on here though been asking anyone that will listen if it can be done...
