Setting English as your Charge 3 primary language

Hello all, I just wanted to mention that it is possible to have your device's language displaying in English even though you are living in a none English speaking country. So if you live in Germany like me and you  buy a Fitbit Charge 3 but find the App is in English but the Charge 3 is in German but there's no clear reason for this then you are in luck. Follow all of these procedures for English language change including correct local time and your correct real world location....

Ready?

1) On your phone start the app. This first screen is the Fitbit screen, we don't need this. Top left of the screen is the Account icon, it should be round. Click it.

2) This is the Account screen. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the Advanced Settings. Click it.

3) This is the Advanced screen. Do the following; Switch OFF the slider for Set Automatically. The Time Zone is now unlocked. So on Time Zone. Click it. Now select your real time zone. Then click top left Advanced to return. Now switch ON the Set Automatically slider and click OK when the Info Box pops up. Stay on this screen and look for the Location option. Click it. This is the Location screen. Switch OFF the Automatic slider and scroll down to Europe. Europe is the Language and this one is in English ! Click it. Leave the Automatic slider OFF and click on the top left Advanced arrow. Top Left is the Account arrow. Click it.

4) We are nearly done I promise but we need to cover all conflicting information. Ready ?

Stay on the Account screen and go to the very top. Click on your Profile name.

Look for Personal and click it. Look for Location and click it. Click again and write in your real location. Click Done. Then click Cancel in the top left. This will return you to the Personal screen.

Click Back. Now you are in your Profile screen. Top left click the Account arrow.

You are in the Account screen now.

5) Same Account screen. Find the Charge 3 in this screen area and click it.

You are in the Device screen. Scroll to the very bottom of the page. Look for Sync Now. Click it.

Once the blue bar has gone from left to right and your device is nearby and is on then you can check your Charge 3 device's screen. The language should have changed to English and is also displaying the correct time and date. Also your Fitbit phone App has all the correct time and location information which will work properly with your phones GPS.

That's everything !

If it still doesn't work, then there is a system glitch. Delete the App from your phone. Factory Reset the Charge 3. Restart your phone. Start a new Fitbit account if possible ( i did ). There can be no old problems now so set up the App again also with a new account if possible. Sync your Charge 3 with your phone. Do all the above again. It really should work this time around. Definitely worth the effort.

If you got this far. You are a nerd 🙂 I hope I haven't fried your nerves and I truly hope you have got your problem solved.

Hi.

"2) This is the Account screen. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the Advanced Settings. Click it."  This "advance settings" does not exist on my iOS app.  I tried everything.

  1. I changed the language on the bottom right side of the dashboard page to English and it always returns back German. (I turned of all script blockers for fitbit)
  2. tried to do this, but as mentioned it does not exist:

In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab on your profile picture.

Tap Advanced Settings > Country.

Turn off the option to automatically detect your country.

Choose your country, then sync your device.

Follow the instructions to update your device to use the language you selected.

still looking for a solution.

thanks Rick
