I have on the last two occasions set the silent alarm for 8am and 8.15am and each time the alarm activated BUT 9 minutes after the set time, why?

It's interesting you mention 9 minutes. Fitbit say: "If you don't dismiss an alarm, it repeats in 9 minutes." (from: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1868.htm?Highlight=alarm )

 

Could it be that the initial alarm is activating but nor fully waking you, then the repeat after 9 minutes is waking you?

On both occasions I was up before the alarm was set to activate. So I know that the initial alarm did not go off.
