Some back story. 🙂 I've been concerned about my resting heart rate rising by as much as 15 BPM since I changed from the HR to the Charge 2. Not once or twice, but all the time. My normal RHR has been between 60 and 64 consistently for over a year (via HR) but with my Charge 2 it's never seen a day below 73, and regularly breaks into the 80's. For a person 50 years old, a resting heart rate variance of that much is more than a little disconcerting. Even more so considering I am extremely "healthy" for someone my age (according to my doctor AND trainer). I run 5 miles a day + work out 6 days a week alternating between HIIT/Cardio/Cycling, and weight lifting, a regimen I've maintained for almost a decade now.
I'm wondering if these resting heart rate discrepancies have anything to do with the fact that the Charge 2 sleep recording data has been consistently inaccurate? Is there a correlation? For the first month I constantly had to manually "correct" my sleep data, as the device "under-reports", more often than not. For example, I'll get 7-8 hours and it will record 1 hour only, or else 2 hours recorded at different times, showing me as awake when I'm most definitely sleeping. Sometimes it completely misses the time I went to sleep and records that I only slept hours after I actually fell asleep.
Restarting my device seemed to help that issue somewhat, but since this latest update (which offers the REM stages of sleep), it is back to consistent under-reporting and missing my time asleep. I find I am constantly having to delete logs and manually enter my time again, which the same problem I had when I first bought the device. For example, last night I slept at 3 am and woke at 11, but my Charge 2 recorded 1 hour of sleep twice, from 5am to 5:45am, and then from 10 to 11. And my resting heart rate is now at 81. That is simply abysmal data gathering.
Also worth noting that the sleep "stages" (aka REM monitoring) has only worked for 2 days on my device. It's back to logging sleep as it did before this new feature.
I've restarted a few times already, so I have to assume this is nothing on my end. Please advise.

Hey there @harleywarren, thanks for stopping by! This is very strange let me say, but let's try to figure out what's going on with your heart rate and sleep data.
I'd like to start saying that your tracker can have difficulty finding a signal, typically due to the tracker's fit. For example, wearing your band tightly may constrict blood flow in your wrist and affect the signal. We recommend experimenting with how high you place the tracker on your wrist. When you're not exercising, wearing the tracker just above the wrist bone--as you would a watch--typically works fine. However, moving the tracker up a couple inches can be helpful during high-intensity exercises or exercises that cause you to bend your wrist frequently. If you haven't already done so, please review our recommendations for wear and other tips shared by @SantiFitbit.
If you're wearing the tracker correctly and the heart rate setting isn't turned off, try changing the setting (either Auto to On or On to Auto) and then syncing your tracker. The change won't take affect until you sync. If heart rate doesn't seem to start tracking correctly, try restarting your tracker 3 times in a row and wait at least 60 seconds before checking heart rate again.
Now, for the sleep inaccuracies I'd recommend doing the following:
Test your tracker after following those steps and let's see what you get now. If you're still getting inaccurate information on both, let me know.
I'll be around!

I've also had the same problems with my Charge 2 after upgrading from Charge HR. I worked with Fitbit support and they ended up sending me another one but it is doing the same thing.
Im so upset that it's not working correctly.

I'm very sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your heart rate. I'd like to know if by any chance you tried the tips and recommendations I've posted above?
Thanks for jumping up @mom2bret, I'm glad to see you here!

My sleep and heart rate are also not accurate. Recording when I go to bed, keeping track of when I get out of bed, not tracking when I go to bed and fall back to sleep. I will try the above steps. No one above replied if their issues were corrected. I'll keep you posted.

I too am having the problems described here - which of course why I’m here😉. I will try the suggestions given by the moderator (I’m sorry, I don’t remember your name) and hopefully, it will get straightened out!
