I have an additional way of monitoring sleep and sleep stages. Neither charge 3 or ResMed device are close to each other. I assume that charge 3 staging is based on HR with HRV determining REM sleep as well as lack of or reduced body movements. Non rem I assume is based on stable HR with some body movements. Never lines up with ResMed sleep scores, which is a different technology. Does Fitbit have validation studies comparing charge 3 to an attended polysomnogram. The high sensitivity setting shows even more discrepancies

I haven't looked into resmed. Not sure how it works, I know one company that uses a box mounted on the wall with no physical connection with the user.
Yes Fitbit has validation studies as well as several users, and reviewers have worn fitbits during sleep studies.
