Sleep stages do not add up to time asleep.

I can see how some sleep recording problems can exist as Sleep mode depends on heart rates and movement.  But my issue is clear cut so I am either missing some information or the Charge 4 can't add.

Basically, the "Time Asleep" does NOT equal REM + Light + Deep.   My time Asleep is always LESS than the three stages added up BUT always more than a combination of any two of them.   So could someone explain what I'm missing?

Thanks!

Hi Mark

Well they have definitely changed the algorithm and the time awake is the same on both screens. This has altered some of the REM and light percentages (on the second screen), as it has rippled back to the beginning of record keeping.

Fall in New England is beautiful and even though I require very high magnification in my glasses, I am pleased to see the blossom developing on our apple and cherry trees as we enter into Spring. I hope you are able to sit outside on sunny days and feel the sun on your skin and inhale scents of the garden!

Hi Mark, Sally and the rest,

I just want to say I check my iPhone sleep data with the web Dasboard and they matched. I then did some addition and the sleep hours added up correctly. So it looks like they fixed the problem and it is retroactive so all my past data has been corrected. I hope yours is fixed as well.

It would have been nice if they had posted something about this with a little apology but I guess that is expecting too much.

Cheers all, Richard

Hi Richard

yes! I noticed this and commented on this thread on the 10th. Both screens are the same and it has  rippled back through all of my data. (I have only doing this a little over 3 months).  I’d like to think someone has been monitoring our discussion but perhaps it’s been more widely reported. I’ve not been across all the ‘chat’. There is a lot of noise.
I am pleased it’s fixed and feel more confident in the data. I did enjoy ‘meeting’ you and Mark.
You mentioned your young photo and working in Canada. My photo was taken in Vancouver in 2019. A long way from home and the last time we got away (before covid). We well. Stay fit!
cheers

Yes Sally I see your post on the 5th. When you mentioned both screens I wasn't sure you were speaking about the Dashboard. To be honest I had given up and was not checking sleep data anymore.  I hope you liked Vancouver which would also be a long way from home for me despite being in the same county. Having said that I have driven across Canada a couple of times when I was young, and gasoline/petrol was cheap and flying expensive (now the opposite).   I have been to Sydney and was there while they were still constructing the Opera house there, see pic. Yes I was very young.

I have visited Japan and Hong Hong a few times since but have not dropped by Australia again.

Wow! I remember when they had the competition for the design, then the build and then the grand opening of the Opera House! You ARE older than that photo!!
We live a long way from Sydney but love to visit.
Only been to the west coast of Canada and a bit of Alaska (amazing). Love the NE coast of the US and Northern California. We are very lucky to have had such opportunities.

I was thinking about the two of you and wanted to wish you both a happy and healthy new year. I hope your holidays were wonderful.

I am continuing to advocate for the blind and reading disabled in the Fitbit community. I’ve stopped going to Fitbit customer care, and I’m now bringing up issues with the Disability Support team at Google. I keep hoping that the issues I have addressed concerning the fact that iOS app will be addressed this coming year. And if any Fitbit moderator or community advocate, read this, just a reminder that with the update, 3.72, I lost the numbers for heart rate on the iOS app.

Thank you Mark

We (southern Australia) are in the middle of a heat wave and I think they have icicles in Texas! Not sure what is happening in Boston.
Issues continue with Fitbit but is an evolution not a revolution. The wearable watch and tracker market is exploding and everyone is getting onboard to try to get a piece of the market. Everyone is trying to make a better product, so change will accelerate as competition for your money increases.
I find the sleep and activity functions useful and reliable.
HRV requires something more sophisticated than a wrist wearable - again that is evolving technology.
My Fitbit battery seems to be draining faster than when I first got it six months ago. Can’t be age so I’m thinking it’s the latest software update. It might be working harder.
Wishing you and Richard a happy, safe and fit 2023!
