@Jaybel68 Thanks for stopping by! I suggest you restart your tracker 3 times in a row by doing the following:

Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

Your sleep stages could be affected by the following reasons:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your tracker from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your tracker higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your tracker to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your tracker’s battery is critically low.

Let me know how it goes!

None of the 'possible causes' apply. Sleep stages worked perfectly for months and for the past three nights has failed.

Nothing has changed. Just ceased working.

My original post was from a couple of months ago and it started working fine until weekend but for the past 4 nights it has reverted back to simplified stages again which is disappointing. I've been following another thread which says the problem is at Fitbits end and many people are experiencing the same problem, so I'm trying to be patient and hope they sort it soon x

@SunsetRunner this is the thread that @Jaybel68 refers to:

Seems like the fix is still a few days away.

These have not been successful for me. Tracker is at 75%, I let it auto detect sleep, slept for nine hours, and still no sleep stages.

I too am having problems getting my Fitbit to give a sleep reading. I have tried all the above mentioned suggestions, also have restarted my phone, uninstalled then reinstalled the app, charged my Fitbit, and restarted it. Please advise
