Sleep stages with low heart rate sub 55

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am looking for others to speak up if they have a resting heart rate of sub 55 and sleep rate possibly lower then that.

After a lot of back and forth with support eventually I was informed that sleep stages are often not tracked due to the heart rate being bellow the threshold. 60 being the programs expected heart rate to create sleep stages.

regular sleep tracks just fine but stages are not calcuatled.

Spoiler
My resting HR is currently around 52.  Rarely gets above 55.  Having what might be the same issue...not seeing full sleep data including deep sleep.  I don't use a phone...just a laptop.

This occurred recently again when my HR went down from 55 to 52.

They need to adjust the code some?

My resting pulse is 48. Sometimes while sleeping, in the chart I can see valleys where it says 39.

My Charge 2 is like a month old, but I think the sleep tracking is accurate in my case.

Are you getting stages or simply tracking sleep? Stages being the colorful brake down of data.

@Sleepyguy  Like @Miriamele , my RHR is in the high 40's and I often get heart rates in the high 30's during sleep.  I have had no problems with sleep stages.

I am new to fitbit but the more of see of some of the 'support' responses - honestly, they must just make it up sometimes if their scripts don't fit.

mine bpm is in the 40's and I am getting the sleep stages.

tho, worth reading some of the other posts because quite a few people can't get the sleep analysis either.

I'm geting stages.  This is from tonight.

According to the heart rate screen, at 4 AM and at 7 AM, my heart was beating at 37/39 bpm.

Just checked again after only 2.5 hrs sleep...and I'm seeing the detailed chart.  I did set my sleep sensitivity to the other setting and then back again.  Usually seems to take a sleep period of more than 3 hrs to get the good chart.

* not sure why my other post has the spoiler alert

So basically the lower heart rate as the reason for sleep stages not tracking is a ruse. That is why I ask on here as the answer from the maker is not always the right answer.

fustrating. I guess no one really knows what is going on. I have been told it’s a heart rate tracking issue but then how can it be if the heart rate tracker never has a gap. I have been told due to movement but I don’t move much at all while sleeping. I have been told sleep needs to be at least an hour long and well 99% of the world sleeps longer then that at night.

i have asked if it’s limited to this tracker or other trackers have the same problem. Only way I would know is to get another one but won’t if it is at my cost to do an experiment.

As I mentioned above....online I went to the settings page and set the sleep thing to Sensitive....hit save...then went back in and reset it to Normal....hit save.  Next night it was fixed....recorded sleep in detail that was under 2.5 hrs.

As far as movement while sleeping...I typically lose around 1 hr to movement and being awake every night.  Apparently I have things to do.  LOL.

This fixed the issue...but for how long...don't know.

* found it was still plotting sleep in detail the next night....

Do you have an irregular heart rate as well? I have lots of skipped beats, and my sleeping heart rate is recorded as about 40-45. I never get the sleep stages, no matter how much I tinker with the settings.

I have seen an irregular heartbeat warning when using a blood pressure measuring device...most likely due to stress involving the measurement.  Otherwise don't experience this that I know of.

If you get irregular heartbeat...I'd say  you are "cruisin' for a bruisin"?  Might try some supplemental magnesium?  Do some online research on this?

The above method works for me to get the good charts...but I use a laptop...not a phone.

I don't know quite what you mean by "cruisin for a bruisin", but I have seen a cardiologist for it and it's benign (for now-may need a pacemaker eventually) and there's really nothing I can do about it. Anyway, I checked and there are other threads indicating that if the Fitbit can't identify a regular heartbeat, it won't track sleep stages.

I have had fitbit charge since 12.26.16

I have loss 55 .lbs to date.

My resting heart rate started at 75- 78. I was not training at all.

I now have run up to 5 miles daily and weight training.  My RHR has steadily dropped to now 49 average and I have in middle of night sleeping seen dips of about 39 and 42 regularly.

During my weight loss I bounced up 15-20 lbs 2x with little exercise. 1 was injury 1 was a mo th in Europe. Each time RHR crept back up to high 60s to 72.

It appears that the low RHR is from training and nothing to worry about.

Also I check pulse with fingertip pulse oxygen digital .

The fit bit is always accurate at rest when i check.

It is frequently off by anywhere from 10-20 during my cardio portion of running and usually back to accurate reading during fat burning legs of run.

I have no dizziness or other low RHR symptoms.

Seems if you train your heart gets strong.

How do you get this graph on your app? Out ou 3 weeks I’ve only got it 4 times.

Thank you

I have been trying to get my stages to work consistently since I bought this watch with no success.  I am now exploring the possibility that when my heart rate variability is low, i am stressed, the tracker just won't give me stages.

I've had loads of trouble with my Charge 3 (had it for about 2 weeks now) tracking sleep.  Only twice have I seen anything but "light" and "awake" traces, and most nights I only get the "simplified" sleep record with no traces.  I finally bought a soft, magnetic wrist band which is much more comfy and will stay put higher on my wrist while I sleep (as recommended).  After one night, I got a trace but still all "light" or "awake."  My lowest HR was 38 and I know I have REM sleep because I remember my dreams.  I do have a somewhat strange heartbeat (it "skips"), but I've been tested thoroughly and was told that I'm normal for an athlete.

I will try the trick of switching sleep setting from "normal" to "sensitive" (where I have it now) and back to see if that does anything.  However, I just don't think this thing works for me.

My sleep rate is 52 . Resting my normal pulse is 56.But when I train hard on my bike my normal pulse resting is 48.In my case I think that the sleep rate is ok.

this is a Charge 2 thread

but thanks for that...

because...

I see all these spruikers often on here about tracker upgrade to get around known, but unacknowledged problems, interesting the 3 has same issue as the 2, for some people.

personally, after a few weeks of tracking sleep, I no longer wear the tracker unless I want to track an activity. The sleep analysis didn't tell me anything I didn't already know/feel when I awoke, but the main reason, like some others, the tracker caused me some wrist issues if worn a lot.

Your fine

The algorithm is flawed.

I changed my workouts a month ago to where after my daily 10k run I get on treadmill hourly when the alert to get 250 steps I run 5 minutes an hour and get 600 steps.

My resting heart rate has gone from 56 to 63.

I'm obviously in much better cardio shape.

Ps

My.cardio score dropped 2 points too.
