Sleep stages with low heart rate sub 55

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am looking for others to speak up if they have a resting heart rate of sub 55 and sleep rate possibly lower then that.

After a lot of back and forth with support eventually I was informed that sleep stages are often not tracked due to the heart rate being bellow the threshold. 60 being the programs expected heart rate to create sleep stages.

regular sleep tracks just fine but stages are not calcuatled.

I just changed the band on my charge 2 and found again that how tight you adjust the band MATTERS.  It needs to be snug...just slightly loose...but not flop around?  You should at least try adjusting it tighter?  Mine stays at the narrowest part of the wrist.

Probably depends to some extent on the person involved.

When I have the chart issues I go to the website by browser and change the sleep setting to sensitive...then go back in and change it back to normal.  Seems to fix the issue...assuming the band is adjusted right.

Yes- I finally got a real sleep trace last night after switching the sleep setting from "sensitive" back to "normal." Weird. Also, my new wristband holds the unit on my wrist much better (very small wrist).

Glad to hear. My Versa reads well below typical deep sleep stage. My resting heart rate about 52 most days.

I’ve gone back and forth too on this issue.  I was sitting playing xbox for hours (a different issue) but periodically I looked at my resting heart rate that was 46-48.  Sleeping heart rates is generally 43-49 when I’ve walked up and glanced at Fitbit.

nowhere is any number 50 or less ever reflected in any of the digital records.  The only conclusion I can come up with is that the business model of the company assumes, by algorithms, that any resting rate below 50 means you are asleep.  They offer a sleeping tracking service for extra money.  At some point, a way has to be established to determine how that service is set up and justifies itself as an extra cost.

this being the case, they must have drawn the line at 50.  If it showed us resting heart rates (asleep or not) below that threshold without paying for it, it would make little sense to claim it was an extra service.

I have no problem with that as a part of their business model (if is set up that way) but I do wish they would let people know up front that there is a ‘floor’ heart rate they have before releasing lower hr data.

They don't have a resting heart rate limit line. My resting HR varies between 45 and 48 and I see it all the time. I don't pay for any features.

Yes indeed you are correct,  when I wear the Fitbit I can see it by looking at the Fitbit, but that’s where it stops.  It never reflects below 50 on the phone app, awake, asleep, etc.  it just stops recording on the app below 50.

that is what is so maddening.  The clear incontrovertible evidence on the device never gets reflected on the app.

Pateavenue, you misunderstand my post. It DOES show my heart rate below 50bpm, every morning. This image has the full day, so the high of my seep (45bpm) is not clearly marked, but it was 38 - 45 . overnight. I do NOT pay anything for the data in the app. No add ons.slepprate.png

Resting pulse is around 50. While sleeping in high 40's. Charge two has been tracking my sleep stages until this past week and now reports it as inconsistent pulse.

These devices don't have a resting heart rate limit, per se, but they do have a lower limit in order to detect your heart rate.  Your Charge 2 has a lower limit of 40 when you are awake and 30 when you are asleep.  How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?

@Pateavenue   I'm sorry, but I don't have any insight for you about your issue.

This absolutely happens to me. My resting heart rate fluctuates between 55 and 49... I cannot get consistent sleep scores. But-- if I drink a lot of caffeine and my heart rate is higher, I will get sleep scores that night. I always assumed this was due to my low resting heart rate, and your thread confirms it.

I had the same issue (as a runner my heart rate is 47) I went to a Neuro Chiropractor and had all brain waves and other neurological testing done. Very inexpensive extensive benign and comprehensive test. My brain was locked in a particular area and it was suggested to eliminate my one cup of coffee a day. Without REM I was having working memory issues. It was an easy fix and now my REM sleep is close to a low normal. NorCal Brain Center if you are in Northern California.

I have the same issue. After calling many many times and each time trying something different they finally admitted it is because of my low 42 resting heart rate.  One of the reason for the Fitbit and it does do sleep pattern or oxygenation level.

My resting hr is 42 and was told it’s too low to get sleep score. I’ve tried everything.

I think it may be irregular heartbeat.  My resting heart rate is in the 40s most of the time and I was getting sleep stages the majority of the time in the past.  There was maybe one night every other month that I didn't get sleep stages which could have been chalked up to the band moving around. I lately have been seeing that I have an irregular heart beat on my bp monitor and in the last month I have not been getting sleep stages about half of the time.

Interesting. I never got a sleep score and do not have irregular heartbeat. Resting heart is between 40 and 45.
