I recently bought a Charge HR and while riding my bike outside it's counting flights of steps. I assume with the change in altitude plus the bumps in the road my arm must be simulating climbing stair motions on my handlebars (or something).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I fix this?
I've tried letting the Fitbit notice activity on it's own and also by doing a specific activity start/stop and it's doing the same - counting steps & flights of stairs.
Help..

As I understand it, it draws directly from the Altimeter. I don't think there's any way to "fix" it.
As a funny side note, my sister sent me her Charge HR that she couldn't get used to wearing. It registered the altitude on the flight to get here, so on January 17th it shows 362 floors, and January 18th it shows 282 floors. I now have an unearned Skydiver badge, and every badge below it.

It's nice to see you both around @Danariel @AussieLovis ! Oour tracker detects floors using an altimeter, which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing elevation, so the tracker calculates elevation gain based on the reduction in atmospheric pressure. Your tracker registers a floor when it detects continuous motion combined with an elevation gain of 7 to 10 feet.
Your tracker may give you credit for extra floors for a variety of reasons. Occasionally your tracker may detect pressure changes unrelated to elevation gains, such as a gust of wind, weather change, or opening a door. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors being counted. This happens if the pathway to the altimeter on the back of your tracker becomes temporarily blocked with sweat or water. We recommend that your tracker be worn loosely during exercise.
It is not possible to delete steps and floors, but you can achieve the same result by negating them:
Hope that helps!

Apparently they have never addressed this. I see your question was created in 2016. It is now 2020 and mine is doing the same. 5 miles on bike and 34 flights of stairs. I live in New Orleans . . . flat as a pancake terrain . . . no change in elevation here.

Altitude has nothing to do with it when I ride my bike. No change in elevation, but 34 flights climbed while riding for 5 miles.

That does not help me here in 2020. I live in New Orleans with very flat terrain - no change in altitude in my neighborhood, but I accumulated 34 flights in 5 miles of riding. Can't remove it and I think that "driving" activity was removed for the Charge 3. When I read reviews and problems, many people complained that their Charge 2 could do that, but not their Charge 3.
