Steps recorded on Charge HR not getting recorded in Fitbit app

I have two fitbits on my account. A Charge 2 and a Charge HR. The Charge 2 is the one I wear most of the time, but when i do yard work, I usually switch to the older Charge HR. I have never had any issues with the app combining the step totals from both the Charge 2 and the Charge HR until recently. This seems to have coincided with the new "look" of the app that Fitbit recently released. Here is an example of the problem:

Charge 2 has recorded 638 steps. I then changed to the Charge HR (was at 0). The Charge HR recorded 352 steps. I then synced both devices with the app, this should have given me a total of 990 steps. But when both were done syncing, the app only showed the steps for the Charge 2, 638 steps. The Charge HR was now displaying 638 steps. This is annoying, because it used to work just fine. After doing a days worth of yard work, (HR was displaying over 17,000 steps). But when i sync'ed, all those steps just magically disappeared, and the app and the HR only showed the steps that had been recorded on the Charge 2.

@Treppy It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community!

Let me help you with your missing steps on your account. Try clearing the link between both devices by doing the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there (don't remove them from the Fitbit account only from the phone's bluetooth).
  • Restart your phone and restart your device (both of them)
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find additional suggestions here.

Let me know how it goes.

@Treppy thank you for the update. Try removing the Charge HR from your account by tapping the account icon at the top left corner then the tracker's icon and finally the trash can icon. After this set it up again following these instructions.

Keep me posted.

Followed these instructions. Removed the Charge HR from my account, then
re-added it.

Tested. Same behavior. Charge HR had 1019 steps, Charge 2 had 950 steps.
Did a sync on the Charge HR, and now it displays 950.

Could this be an issue with the new version of the app?
