Swim information inaccurate

Hi

I am a new Fitbit user and am especially seen to use my Fitbit to track my fitness during swims. I went swimming with it for the first time today and unfortunately it has not tracked the swim correctly. Its tracking is short by 400 meters. I have checked that the pool length is set correctly.

I was also wearing a 'swim tag', borrowed from the leisure center - which tracks individual lengths - plus, I know how many lengths I did because I counted!

1) Is there any way to modify the length data it has recorded?

2) How can I get the Fitbit to track the swim accurately?

Do you have any suggestions of what could be wrong?

Thanks

Welcome to the Community, @elou2410.

Inconsistencies in your swim data may be caused by any of the following:

  • You completed only a few laps
  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized

Now about your length information, you can change it by following the steps in the article: How do I set the pool length for my Fitbit device?.

Let me know the outcome. 🙂

Hi Alejandra thanks for getting back to me.

Unfortunately your answer isn't really satisfactory for these reasons:

I swam 62 lengths  - surely not counted as 'only a few laps'?

I did not stop to rest at any point, either in the middle of the length or at the end.

I did not change strokes - all front crawl.

I did not swim with a kickboard

I clearly didn't swim for less than the duration, as the swim was registered, just incorrectly.

As I confirmed in my original post, I know how to set the pool length and it is set correctly.

Unfortunately your answer has not answered my question.

I have used the fitbit a few more times since first posting.

It doesn't track swimming accurately.  For me, it is usually wrong by between 400 and 600 m each swim
