The sleep summary screen is not working properly

Hi. I've had the charge 2 for 2 weeks now. Until last wed night i got a basic breakdown of my sleep. Wed night I saw that it also gave me rem and deep and light sleep. I was ecstatic! I got it the next night. Then the next it went to the same basic breakdown, no rem sleep etc, and even changed the second night of rem recorded back to the basic breakdown. I've reset and done everything i can think of and that has been mentioned previously here. Help please.

Hi @VSFitgirl,

Did the app show a message explaining the error. Usually it will say something to the effect of the heart rate signal was interrupted during sleep. It happens sometimes.

You can try wearing it a little looser or tighter, and see if you can find the sweet spot at night.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!

Hi Wavy Davy,
I have adjusted tightness and increased sensitivity. There’s no error message at all I just don’t get the deep, light and rem sleep breakdowns except those 2 times (and then one of those times disappeared 2 days later)…I get sleep, restless and awake but that’s all. 🙂
I’ve reset the watch and reset the app. A friend of mine has the same watch and it works just fine for her

Hello @VSFitgirl, welcome to the Fitbit forums! If you are not getting sleep stages, just basic sleep data, please verify the following:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your tracker from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your tracker higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your tracker to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your tracker’s battery is critically low.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi! Thanks for replying. I do all the things you mentioned. I absolutely checked all that. Last night I thought I might leave the phone connected (cellular) this time instead of aeroplane mode which I usually do. I have wifi always on, so everything is connected to the internet all night anyway
.
Well…this morning I got the full breakdown, so I won’t jump up and down too much but I think not having it on aeroplane mode maybe the answer…..
Hoping 🙂

Thanks for the update @VSFitgirl! So, did your Charge 2 tracked your sleep stages this time?

Well, about the aeroplane mode, I suggest you to leave that option off, so you won't have inconveniences with the "All day sync" and the live data on the Fitbit app. Keep an eye on it the next nights and let's see how it goes.

Let me know if you have further questions!

I get basic sleep 3-4 times a week, the rest, I get full details. I get the error message saying not a constant heart rate could be detected. My watch band is secure and 3 fingers above wrist. When I check the heart monitor ALL is recorded. I check the heart on watch during the day and it is displayed. It is recording Please HELP.

Hi. Thanks very much for giving some advice. It didn't work last night and I had selected the begin sleep now option. Which i thought i was meant to do :-)....so it seems that may have been the issue. I'll allow it to automatically detect me tonight. Thanks again

Hey @SunsetRunner, I hope you are doin' great! Fitbit estimates your sleep stages using a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns. While you’re sleeping, your device tracks the beat-to-beat changes in your heart rate, known as heart rate variability (HRV), which fluctuate as you transition between light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep stages. If there is no enough information on the backend to calculate this, we’ll show you your old sleep pattern which doesn’t require heart rate. It appears as though we didn’t have enough information, and as a result showed your old sleep pattern. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. You may want to check the fit of your tracker to make sure we get a good heart rate signal. To learn more about how to check the fit of your tracker, visit the "What should I know about sleep stages" help article.

You are more than welcome @VSFitgirl! If you have further questions or comments, let me know!

I'll be around!
