Tried changing the band and I think I killed the whole thing...

I have the original Fitbit Charge. my dog chewed on the band but the device worked just fine. I ordered a replacement band off Amazon and I can't seem to get the device to fit correctly in to the new band and when I put electronics back in the case of the old band so I wouldn't lose any of it it wouldn't turn back on. Have I totally killed it or am I doing something wrong?

You did not need to take the electronics out. Did the dog open the back?
