Unable to read the screen display is too dim-Charge 3

I have had my charge 3 since December 2018 and over the past couple of weeks the display has been getting fainter. To begin with the display disappeared from either side of the screen but now the middle section is so faint I can not even see the time. I know the Fitbit is working as is vibrates when I receive messages etc and it syncs and charges ok but is of little use if I can read it. I have reset the watch as per the guidelines and tried to change the brightness on the settings. Nothing has made any difference and it’s very frustrating. Please advise what my options are, thank you

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Angelinaj.

I'm sorry to hear that your Fitbit Charge 3 display is not working properly. Thank you for the information provided and for trying to resolve the issue before contacting us.

Besides the regular restart you can also try a long restart by doing the following:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

I've been having the exact same problem. I've also tried all the reset options and the screen is still blank. It is vibrating and syncing with my phone but I can't see anything on the fitbit screen. Very frustrating. What options are available for those of us whose fitbits are not fixed by resetting them?

As I mentioned before, I've already tried all of these reset options and tips, including changing the clock face in the app. Nothing has worked to make my screen come back on. What options are available for those of us who have tried everything and are still unable to have a working screen?

I've got the same problem - since the last software update a few weeks ago it has got worse.  I have it set on Auto or on Normal in the day time but can only see the screen properly in the shade, outside it's just too faint.  Sometimes it lights up properly if I press the left side button or tap it a few times, but it is only for a few seconds then goes dim again.  The whole text on the display looks patchy and faded instead of clear and bright.  I can just about read the time but not the steps or heart rate.  This seems to be a common problem recently with this model.  Is it a software or hardware problem?  Thanks.

My Fitbit Charge 3 screen goes from bright to dim.  I can't read the screen.  I have tried all the solutions that are given but the screen of its own accord will turn dim.  Very very frustrating.

I think there has been some recent changes to the Charge 3 settings that weren’t always there.  For instance, mine stopped giving me notifications.  Just today I figured out many things are now listed in the “Settings” screen.  This can be found by swiping all the way over to the left.  Once there, you can adjust Brightness, which might be set to dim.  It should be set to Auto.  If you tap this setting, it will cycle through all the options.  My problem was that I had unknowingly set my Do Not Disturb to On.  That’s why I wasn’t receiving any notifications.  Once again, you can tap this to cycle through the options.  Use the left big button to return back to home after you have corrected your settings.  I also rebooted my device by tapping About (bottom of the settings screen) and then scrolling to the bottom again until you get to Reboot Device.  After tapping that and the device successfully reboots, you will see a happy face appear on the screen.

I hope this helps.  Like I said, I never noticed these settings when I got my device in June but they are now there and apparently wrecking havoc with users.  Good luck!
