Unable to setup device with Samsung A40

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

I was loving my charge 2 and had it connected for a few days to my brand new Samsung A40 when all of a sudden it stopped connecting.

It wont even allow my Fitbit to connect to the phones bluetooth.  I get as far as having the code sent to the Fitbit to add my device but it never gets any farther. I've already spoke with customer service and gone through all of the trouble shooting. How can I be allowed to download the app, yet not be able to use the Fitbit properly. This is extremely frustrating  and disappointing.  I shouldn't have to use another device to continually sync. Will there be a future solution? I've been using this charger habitually for about 2 years and now I can't. I've always been a major advocate  for Fitbit, but this just seems so silly

Hello @Jstreich92 thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's a pleasure to assist you with your connection concern. Welcome to the Community Forums!

First, I'd like to appreciate your effort and patience troubleshooting this matter with our Customer Support team prior posting, I totally understand how frustrating this situation can be for you. Let me share with you that the Samsung Galaxy A40 is not currently listed as a compatible device with our products and services, therefore, you may experience certain connection difficulties with it. I'm aware that some users are able to use non-compatible devices with our Fitbit products, however, we cannot ensure a proper function of all its features due to this compatibility concern. Therefore, even though your new mobile device is not compatible, lets give it a try to our help article: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

If by any chance you're still unable to use your Fitbit with your mobile device, I suggest you to try with a compatible device or a computer to avoid this situation

I'll be here if you need anything else, please keep me posted.

Hi,

I'm glad I'm not the only one ! Sorry to hear that you're having exactly the same problems as me ....  my Fitbit synced with my Samsung A40 and was working really well for about 2 months, until 7 September when my bluetooth unpaired the Fitbit and now won't pair up again. I wondered if there was a problem with the Fitbit, so tested it by re-pairing with my old phone, and that worked fine. I then unpaired it from my old phone and tried pairing it with my new phone, but to no avail.   I agree with you that its extremely frustrating and disappointing. I don't want to have to carry two phones around to track my progress, nor do I want to wait til I get home to turn on my old phone to track my progress.  Grrrr 😞

So, in a nutshell, come on Fitbit - get this issue sorted and approve the Samsung A40 !!

Customer service told me that the phone doesnt support fitbit. It's so
strange though because my phone has randomly been pairing it BUT, it says
that it's not actually paired? Like, the device doesnt appear on the app or
say it doesnt exist, but continues tracking my steps? I'm just waiting for
it to stop working again. 😞

It's not the Samsung Galaxy A40 that causes your problem. Your phone works with Android 9.0 and that's the problem. Fitbit trackers do not "love" Android 9.0 (yet). All Android 9 phones have problems with syncing and notifications...

I installed the latest version of the Fitbit app (3.6) on my Samsung Galaxy A40 and syncing as well as notifications work better now (not 100%).

I know, it's weird, right ! I'm currently syncing daily on my old phone which works ok, but it's not ideal, but shows updated info on my new phone. Roll on the day when I can simply do it all on my new phone. Thanks for the info though 😊Sent from Samsung tablet.

If Fitbit cannot get the Fitbit Charge 2 to work with a Samsung A40 soon it will be the last Fitbit product I ever buy as I cannot trust other Fitbit devices say like the Charge 3 not to do the same in a couple of years.

It's unbelievable that Fitbit trackers do not "love" Android 9.0 (yet). The most popular system in the World today! Sounds like Fitbit are a flash in the pan company and won't be around for long! What are they going to do when Android 10 comes out?

I'm so glad I found this forum.. my charge 2 has just stopped pairing with my Samsung a40.. been working since June now just stopped. Get to passcode stage and nothing!! Driving me nuts thought it was my chage 2 playing up but looks like it isn't reading all the comments. Fitbit get this sorted please asap. Cant track my running now !  Managed to connect my sons Ace2 though that we've just bought him. Hows that ?? One but not the other ??

Any idea fitbit if your planning on resolving this issue ??

An hour ago, my charge 2 has stopped talking to my Samsung galaxy 10e which is supported. Turned bluetooth off and on, it says no devices.  Thought I would try unpairing the device in the fitbit app, and now I have no device on my account.  I have had the phone since April and have had no issues until now.
